Sympathy Cards

Unfortunately I needed to make two sympathy cards - in one week.  Two friends of mine both lost a parent.  Bless them.  I know all too well the sorrow this brings.  I dedicated a post to my mother on the anniversary of her passing.  To read that post check it out here.

I found the perfect sympathy stamp on a recent trip to Hobby Lobby (with Di from Pixie's Crafty Workshop).   I also bought the embossing folder during the same trip.

Here are the cards I made.
Di came up with the idea of using the embossing folder as an outline for the text paper.   Isn't she one smart cookie!  The butterflies are a Tim Holtz die.  It cut my plate again - and I even used a Starbucks coffee wrap on the opposite side (so I got two additional butterflies).
On this one I cut around the embossed edge of the white paper.  As you can tell, my cards are on the simple side.  As I slowly get back in the groove of making cards my mixed media madness may take over and you may see some with busy backgrounds.  Stay tuned!

I'm getting ready for a craft fair that I'll be in the first week of November.  Since our local card shop closed I've decided to make some cards to sell.  I'll also make some cards out of some of my photos.  I can't wait to get started!

Peace,
Kay

Hi Kay, sorry to hear that you had to make two sympathy cards, that's so sad but your cards are beautiful and I am sure that wonderful sentiment will bring some comfort once the worst is over. Good luck with the craft event! Crafty hugs, Anne x

My Dear Kay, I do not think these cards are on the simple side . . . I would be more inclined to call them elegant. In fact very elegant.
I am sure you will do very well at your craft fair. Connie :)

Beautiful cards Kay and I'm sure they'll bring comfort to the receivers.
It's always so difficult when you lose someone you love but so much harder when it's a parent. I lost my Dad when I was 16 and my Mother passed away two years ago.
It sounds like you're going to be busy...Good Luck with the craft fair and I'll look forward to hearing all about it! ;D

Totally elegant indeed Kay. Perfect sympathy cards. That cutting round the outline works a treat too. What did you use to colour the stamp with. your SU pens?

Will email tomorrow, and am curious about your CB plate cutting :( The top B plate does score, they can end up shaped like a banana and covered in score marks, but unless your cutting downwards that should be the only marks you get.

Starbucks coffee cup wraps, what are those? Tee, hee..............I packed all of those that were, ahem acquired, last week :)

Hugs, Di xx

Hi Di,

Yes, I used my SU pens to color in the text and flowers. They worked perfectly!

I must say, I'm enjoying the Feddjit feature!

Hugs,
Kay

Hi Kay, It is always a pleasure to hear from you. You are one of my first blogging friends . . . and you know what they say . . . make new friends, but keep the old, for one is silver, but the other is gold. Thanks for stopping by, my golden friend. Have a wonderful week, Connie :)

There is nothing wrong with simple cards a'tall! They don't all have to be cluttered up with stuff. I like this card and personally, wouldn't call it simple. Great layering and the butterflies make it pop without being too much. Beautiful saying.

Oh Kay those cards are absolutely beautiful. I know that one of those would lift my spirit and touch my heart if I was grieving. Great idea to make cards for your local craft fair(s)!

Such a lovely card, and I'm sure it will bring a bit of comfort to the recipient. These cards are so hard to make. I love this EF, was it also from H/Lobby? You & Di made a terrific team. I could tell from Di's posts that you were having such fun. I'm glad the 2 of you got to meet, share some good times. Crafting is so much more fun when you have a buddy to enjoy it with. Also enjoyed your puppy post. The last guy had a hat just like one my DH has! (the resemblance ended with the hat though!). Hugs
