Random Photos of San Francisco

Here's some random photos of San Francisco.  I've noticed that my fonts are all over the place so I'm just going to use the default - whatever that is.

Valle Caldera

In September a friend visited from Colorado.  One of our outings was to the Valle Calderas in the Jemez Mountains.  She wanted to visit the Calderas so we took a little ride up the mountain.  Some of it isn't so pretty; we had the largest fire in state history (150,000 acres) this summer so the scars are there - and will be for decades.  We've been getting rain so there is a blanket of greenery amongst the burned trees.

Today there is a new dusting of snow on the mountain.  We really need a lot more moisture than what we've gotten so far.

Thanks for visiting!!

Bad Hair Day at the Safari Park

When looking at my photos I noticed two trends -- bad hair and photos of feet/paws/whatever.  How funny and a little odd.  Here's more from the Wild Safari Park in San Diego.

First up is the bad hair.  I hope these make you giggle like they did me!

Here's some more photos from the day.

Thanks for stopping by.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Where the Wild Things Are --- at least in San Diego!

After a day at sea we arrived in the port of San Diego.  We went to the San Diego Wild Safari Park.  This was another day full of walking and in a much warmer temperature.

We signed up for a tram safari and thought it would be at least a two hour ride -- it was only 30 minutes.  The driver would slow down for us to see animals but never really came to a complete stop.  I did manage to get some great shots any way.

Something I really got excited about is this little one.  This baby elephant was only a few days old when we visited.  How sweet can you get?!?

Here's some other photos of the wildlife.  Enjoy!!

Reflection of a crane

What a grump!!

Is it a donkey? A zebra? The guide told us but I can't remember.  What I do remember is that they are almost extinct.

Just look into those eyes

I think this is a pelican - he just gave me the creeps.....

Next up -- bad hair day at the Safari Park!!!

Special Arrival

Let me introduce you to the latest member of my household.  She flew in on a big plane, her own wings not having to do any flapping!  She's a yellow sided green cheek conure.  Tulip is her name and getting spoiled is in her future!
I bought her from Nina Bolognese in Grand Junction.  Let me just tell you, if you want a bird I would highly recommend her.  She's great to deal with and you can just tell that she loves all her tweets.  Go to her website by clicking on Nina.
Hello there!
Daisy wasn't too sure about the new addition.  At first she'd run by the cage but then after Tulip dropped some seed on the floor Daisy was ready to investigate.  She loves bird seed!!  I discovered this several years ago when the birds that visited the feeders in my backyard would make a mess and she was more than willing to clean up.  It made for interesting poop!! As for Katie, I didn't get a good photo of her because she just stayed in her den most of the time.

Tulip got a little present from my friend Monica.  The snuggle buddy was already in the cage when I took this photo.
Goodies for the tweet.

This has been my reading material - I want to be a responsible, good bird owner.

Just into those eyes - aren't they precious!

I don't know if it's a netbook thing or a blogger thing - but when I "preview" the post it looks different.  We'll see what it looks like when I publish it!!

Thanks for visiting.
