Friday Smiles 142

Hello peeps.  I'm joining in with Annie at A Stitch In Time.  I hope everyone has had a wonderful week and have an even better weekend planned!

The flower I showcased last week wasn't a peony - this is my peony!

 

And now here's this weeks smiles.  I have some little helpers around the house.  Sometimes they create a mess, bringing their food into the living room so they can eat with me.  (I usually eat in front of the t.v. and watch Jeopardy.)  Playing with their toys and having a fun filled day.  

They know when it's time to relax.  They wind down and choose their favorite place of the day.  The blanket on the couch is for their benefit.  In this photo it looks like they've had enough of each other!  The front door was open so Katie (on the left) was watching the front door and Muffin (on the right) was keeping an eye on the backyard.  My house is well protected!

WOYWW 333

Hello everyone!  I know, two weeks in a row!  I'm joining in with Julia over at Stamping Ground.  People from places near and far show their desks and what they are working on.  Julia has a full explanation of WOYWW on her blog HERE.

I haven't accomplished much since last week.  My aunt was visiting from Atlanta so I played tourist guide.  We had never made it to Rancho de Chimayo, a nice restaurant next to the El Santuario de Chimayo.

Anyway, I'm going to show you my messes.  Places where I have craft supplies tucked away, sometimes orderly and sometimes just thrown in!  

Messy closet.  Once again things have been thrown in!

I have bookshelves on both sides of my fireplace.  This is the side that I use most often.  There's a corner of my comfy chair where I knit.  

The top shelf has nothing that I need.  I made the button bouquet next to the teddy bear.  I have no idea what's in the pink box.  

The next shelf I have my owl that my friend Marion knitted for me.  He has real glasses on!  The books are old ones that I've picked up here and there.  Most of them are in a foreign language.  The wicker basket has my candlemaking supplies.

On the next shelf I have my knitting needles in the bright pink vase.  Next to that is a jar with the leftover yarn from my spa cloths.  Oh, some of you asked what spa clothes are -- that's a fancy word for wash cloths!  One of my knitting friends thought that up for me!  In the green and white box I have a supply of yarn.  

The next shelf has my knitting books.  Lotion for my hands as the yarn typically dries them out.  My lamp to help me see.  The blue box is empty.  The box below it has my circular needles and notions.

There's my big iced tea and my catch all in the wicker basket on the bottom shelf.  I need to go through that in a major way!

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and also those that visit me (please leave your number).  I have several appointments today but I'm hoping to make it to a few desks.  After that it will more than likely be Friday and Saturday that I'm able to visit.

Valle Caldera, New Mexico

Hello my lovely peeps.   Can you believe it's almost the end of October already?  Where has the time gone?  

I drove to the Valle Caldera National Preserve in May.  It's located about fifteen miles from where I live in the Jemez Mountains.  When I first moved to New Mexico it was a privately owned ranch.  The size of it is massive; only a small part of it is visible from the road.

If you'd like to learn more about it go to their WEBSITE.

 This is a gorgeous place.  If you are ever in northern New Mexico it would be worth it to visit.  You may see wildlife like elk, deer, turkeys and even a bear!

I took these photos and love the watercolor effect.  As you can see it was a beautiful sunny day in the Land of Enchantment.

WOYWW 332

Hello peeps.  I'm so happy and excited to join Julia for WOYWW!  To find out what this is all about visit Julia's blog Stamping Ground.  I've missed you all and can't wait to reconnect!

My workdesk has been my comfy chair in the living room.  I've been knitting spa cloths because I don't have to think to do this.  I thought I had knitted more than this. The project on the left is a sweater I was hoping to take on vacation.... It could still happen.  I also started another project but can't share it here as it's a gift and the person reads my blog.

I returned to work in August after recovering from knee surgery (see previous post if you're brave).  I also had planned to put my one bedroom condo on the market so I've been going through things as I have energy.  I've had some things done around the house.  Now I've decided to stay where I'm at for at least two more years, closer to my (hopefully) retirement.  I'm excited about what I've done so far but it's not quite photo ready yet.  I'll share some pics soon!

I will visit those that visit me (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number as me.  It might take me a few days but I promise I'll come visit.

Also, thanks for all the well wishes and love!  The blogging community really is wonderful.
