WOYWW - Back to Embossing

Wednesday, again, really?  Time for the biggest blog link up you'll ever come across.  If you don't know what this is all about visit Julia at Stamping Ground.
I am going to visit the blogs that end with the same number that I end with.
Also, those of you that visit me.
There are just so many of you now that I'm trying
to be fair in who I visit, without driving myself
crazy.

I'm still doing my She Art.  Remember the pink canvas on my desk?
 Isn't she too cute!
True Friends
Currently on my desk.  Oh my.
The acrylic paints and Mod Podge are pushed off to the side.
The baby wipes are within reach.
Some fun stamps that I've been embossing.  Paint brushes.

Several people suggested detail embossing powder (thank you!).

What do you think?
Can you see the church?  This is the El Santuario de Chimayo
What could be under this pile of embossing powder?
A Burro - too cute!
Whatever you are doing, no matter where you are, don't forget
to take time to enjoy life.
Peace,
Kay

A True Tale

I have a wonderful friend named Helen.
She's so full of life and has a GREAT sense of humor.
I got an email from her last week.
With her permission, I am sharing her true tale on my blog.

This is her email - no editing required!!!

Now, here's a true story for ya:

Last Saturday, Gary and I went over to the Senior Center and exercised in their fitness center.  You're required to sign in when you arrive and sign out when you leave.
As we were leaving, Gary said, "I'll sign out for you," so I said OK.

Most of the seniors who go to activities at this center are in their 80s,
so there are many different things available to them for their age group,
such as having a nurse trim your toenails!  : )

On Monday morning, around 8:30, I got a call
from one of the elderly volunteers from the center,
reminding me that I am scheduled for 11:00 to get my toenails trimmed.
Gary had signed me out on the wrong sheet and inadvertently (?) arranged this appt.

I may not be so young anymore, but I can still give myself a pedicure,
thank you very much.  : )
We're going over to the center today to lift weights,
and I'll do my own signing in and out...
no telling what I'd be enrolled in otherwise!

H.

Now you know why I love her so.  She's a dear friend to me.  Thank you Helen!

Peace,
Kay

An Old Adobe

When I first moved to New Mexico I saw the adobe houses and didn't
 think much about them.
I was eighteen years old and didn't want to move.
I had lived in only one town my entire life - I had friends that I would be leaving behind.  Nope, wasn't thrilled to be moving to New Mexico.

Yesterday I took a drive to some places I'd not been before. I'll share that in another post. Today is all about an old adobe that I found near the San Juan Pueblo.
Over the years I've embraced New Mexico.  The old structures really call to me.
I love them.
Imagine those adobe bricks made by hand, to build a home.
A lot of the homes were one big room at first.  As the family grew so did the house.
They made some mud, mix in a little bit of straw to build another room.
Houses full of character, full of stories.
Peace,
Kay

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!! - Read Across America

READ ACROSS AMERICA
"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."
What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday than reading to a child? On the evening of March 2nd (Dr. Seuss's birthday), Random House and the National Education Association (NEA) urge you to participate in the second annual Read Across America and read to a child.

WHY CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS?
Dr. Seuss epitomizes a love of children and learning. Also, his use of rhyme makes his books an effective tool for teaching young children the basic skills they need to be successful. When we celebrate Dr. Seuss and reading, we send a clear message to America's children that reading is fun and important.
