WOYWW 195 - Finished Canvas!

WOYWW has arrived.   If you don't know what "WOYWW" is all about go over to  Stamping Ground.  A big shout out to Julia for making this happen every week!

Yay!  I finished the HUGE (11 x 14) canvas.  I'm happy with how it came out.  I started a small (8 x 10) canvas.  I think this is the one I'll use to teach the class.  Speaking of which, those of you that teach and get paid for teaching - how much do you get and how much does the store get?  I'm just curious about this.  No supplies will be included in the price.

The desk as it is Tuesday night but won't change before Wednesday.
My little canvas (not done), paints, Mod Podge, and some extra birdies
I just noticed that my paper plate palette is the same colors as on my canvas!!  Isn't it funny what you see in your photos once you post them.

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and those that visit me (please leave your number).  I have tried to write specific comments to the posts but I'm finding that I'm taking too long - so I'll just zip in and read and oooh and ahhh and leave a brief comment.  Please don't take offense.  I just want to visit more desks!

Peace,
Kay

Morning Kay, I love the delicate background and the way the white has softened the lined on your birdie canvas. Funny you mentioned the plate I thought it was just paint! Happy WOYWW Hugs Mo x

Glad to see your delightful canvas is finished.
I used to get paid £175 for a workshop that was including a repeat (ie one worksop - two full day sessions). The store would make money on the goods sold as a result of my promoting them plus £65 - £105 depending on the number of students per class. They charged £20 per student and all materials provided plus coffee and cake. That was a couple of years ago. They've since retired.
Hope this helps
Hugs, Neet xx

Love the canvas! The store I teach at provides all the materials for the classes. We then split 70/30 on the fees charged. My tag, card, and recipe card classes are 3 tags/cards/recipe cards for a $20 class fee. I get $6 per person. If I do a chip board book or a canvas I make more money...usually a 50/50 split cause it take longer for me to come up with the idea/display and to teach it. Hope this helps some. Hope you have a great week and thanks for sharing with us! Vickie #41

Psst...It's awfully late here and I really shouldn't be visiting at this hour, but it seems ages since I've nipped over to you.
That's a beautiful canvas and such cute birdies...you have been busy ;D
I haven't taken part in WOYWW for a few weeks because I couldn't get to the artwork due to answering and visiting everyone so I think I'm only going to enter once a month...that way I hope I'll have more to show! That's my plan anyway...let's hope it works! :D
I see my button on your sidebar and want to thank you so much for grabbing it...it did make my day and I really appreciate it.
Have a wonderful week.
Ooops nearly forgot to say loved the flower photos. They are beautiful. xoxo

Never had the confidence to try teaching, other than helping friends and family, which does not really count. I would have thought, that the store would have employed you and paid you. After all, they will get a good does of cash from the goods they sell during and after the class. Your canvas has really flowered and is lovely. have a good week. xx Maggie #15

Hello Kay, Your piece turned out beautiful . . . I'm so proud of you . . . branching out and spreading your wings, to teach a class. It just goes to show that we are always on an adventure of new experiences with excitement and delight around every new challenge that we are brave enough to try. Oh, I just have to say it again, "I Am So Proud Of You, & Your Piece Is Lovely"!
Have a blessed day,

Hi Kay
fab canvas and you look as if you have been having fun.
As for the teaching...I do a few workshops at work and normally charge £15 per hour (plus a free lunch, if there is such a thing). all materials are paid for by the store. If it is a new class I will get some working out time as well. hope this helps.

Love the bird canvas! And the new smaller one is so gorgeous already! I would love to teach something like this. The demographics in my area are such that only cards are of interest. I do three cards for $15. I supply the card stock they need to bring all tools needed. We call it the basic crafters kit here.

I adore your art! I have tons of paint and I never seem to pull it out and play with it.. you've inspired me :-)

Love both of your canvasses, had to laugh at the 'big one' as big to me is over 4' x 3'. They take a while to paint I can tell you.
Birdies are so cute. Hope you get paid plenty for your classes.
Have a great week.

I love your canvases, they are sooo cool. In answer to your question, I have had an arrangement where we split the course fee 50:50 after expenses. I try and work out a rough per person amount for materials and sometimes the store will allow an amount for refreshments etc. That way, we both benefit from trying to make sure the workshop is full. Hope that helps and Happy Woyww

I LOVE this and would sign up immediately for the class - it's just the sort of thing I never get round to doing at home. I do 'teach' workshops as I'm sure you know, and will happily share my pricing structure if you wanna email me!
