WOYWW - let's get inky!

It's Wednesday again!  I look forward to this day for so many reasons - over 100 easily!  The glue that holds us all together is Julia.   Visit her site at Stamping Ground to see all the participants.  You'll be amazed, inspired, and maybe you'll experience a wee bit of envy.

I purchased some new stamps and am playing around with them.  Finally, I'm getting inky!  I've been making ATCs (for the first time).  I also am making some cards using one of the designs since I love it so much.   Let's see, what all is in this photo?  The beginnings of a card, my watercolor pencils over on the right (love these) and my markers in their great carrying case.  My trusty eraser and some iced tea.  On the floor on the left are canvases - on the bigger side so I'll save those  for down the road - they need to be stored away in one of my crafting closets.  That's BIG bubble wrap by the canvases that I'll use for something....

 Can you believe this mess!
Back on the desk - there's a pile of papers and rub-ons - my trusty cutter and my heating tool.  I tried to emboss the Santuario de Chimayo (back a few posts) stamp  but it just didn't come out.  There may be too much detail to the stamp.  I'm bummed.  Some of my 8 x 10 canvases ready for my She Art.  Oh, the timer that was on the lamp but quit working - needs to be put out with the trash.  Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have listed everything on my workdesk....
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing -- don't forget to

Thanks for visiting!
Peace,
Kay

Good Morning Kay,
To start off, your card is lovely. As for the mess, well it looks like a truly fun mess. The kind of mess that only an artist could LOVE. That set of colored pens makes me drool. Now, tell me a little more about your ATC. That is something I really want to get into. I would love to see some of your finished ones.
Your blogging friend, Connie

Hi Kay! Glad it's not jsut me that lists everything on her craft desk - hee hee!!

A lovely creative space, and have you tried fine detail embossing powder for your stamp? The ones I use are WOW! powders and they are fab (I'm on the DT so would say that, but they really are!) it makes such a difference, as does the ink - what are you using? I;ve found Versafine to be really good for detail embossing.

Have fun getting inky and messy!

hugs

Oh I like he embrace life card, that's really pretty! Glad you're going through your desk so carefully, it's fascinating!
As. An alternative to embossing the detail of the santaoro image, how about stamp it in Stazon, let dry, then cover in clear emboss ink and emboss the entire surface....really shows up the detail,,and it's fun!!

As a non card maker/ scrapbooker, I know very little about the creative processes that you mention - so it's like role reversal with you and fabric! LOL. I always like the stuff that you produce though and that card is no exception, simple and pretty!

Hi Kay, good to see you getting inky!! Shame you are not closer you would be welcome to rummage through my desk any time. Making ATCs - are you going to be trading? Do let me know!! I think sometimes listing the things on the desk is a bit of an eye opener - like how many scissors I am using at once!! I have to 'fess up I bought the zipper roses ready made. But I have looked at them, they seem to be made by doing a running stitch along the bottom edge and gathered up. I guess you can then roll them round and hold with a few stitches. Let me know if you try it!! Thanks for popping by, Cindy #58

This is my second attempt, the last comment disappeared into a computer black hole.
Thanks for your comment re the cutter. I have one similar to yours but I think it is a little thinner. I put the paper to the top but still it comes out crooked, thought I might line it up on the measured lines next time. I also can't seem to get a clean cut, it always bends into the little cutting slot. I bought it from a card making shop and told the lady what I wanted it for. Maybe it's just a blonde thing for me :)
Love all the things on your desk, I could have a fantastic time playing with all that.
Have a great week.

Hi! You certainly are embracing life! I can see how enthusiastic you are with all our projects! Are you enjoying making ATCs? The fun part is the exchanging- I used to exchange for ATCs to put in my Europe scrapbook and the ATCs I got were fantastic! it made my scrapbook exiting, having little works of art in it! Patsy from

Well this is an industrious desk Kay, it looks like you’ve been having fun!

I’ve not used my water colour pencils for ages. I brought a big set of Prisma’s but seem to use my Promarkers more now. It’s funny how things move on isn’t it.

Loving the card, what a pretty stamp.

Happy Crafting!

i love having new stamps to play with. Who cares if the desk is a mess i have seen worse.

watercolor sticks are much more concentrated pigment and VERY soluble. you can use them by marking on the paper like the pencils or you can wet your brush and load it from the tip of the 'crayon' kind of like a pan watercolor. You can draw on prewet paper or dry then wet it with a brush - I'm only just beginning to find all the ways to use it but mostly I love the vivid colors and easy mark making. They were on sale at my local art store (Daniel Smith) so decided to try a few. More arty fun!

Hi and thanks for visiting - your desk looks like mine would normally. I can literally work on top of things and a clean desk takes away my mojo immediately - but - this time I am in over my head after attending a couple of events and coming home with more than 1,000 cards for Danish deployed soldiers I have to sort, pack and send away. Must take an hour every evening and get it sorted before next shipment. All the best.

Creative mess is good! I have recently discovered ATCs and I love them!! They are rather fun!
As for my knitting there is cable and blackberries. Not done blackberries before but easy when you know how! I am getting to that point where I am not sure if there will be enough wool to finishe eek!

Morti said...

Such a lot of things on your desk, but thanks for the blow by blow account of what it's all made up of! On embossing intricate stamps, did you use fine detail embossing powder? You also need to make sure you use a "sticky" ink (pigment) and give the card a wipe with an anti-static bag too, to make sure the powder doesn't stick in the wrong bits! Hope that helps!

Thanks for stopping by....
