Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.
Thomas Merton
I've been lucky enough to have play time.
I've concentrated on my word for 2012 - Blossom.
I've expanded my creativity by making things I hadn't tried before.
Here's some photos of what I've created.
One of my first ATCs. I just love the little birdie on the HUGE egg! |
Here's
my first She Art girl. I fell in love with the background. First I
layered a piece of orange tissue paper on the canvas using Mod Podge.
Then I added the blue paint, scrapping it with a credit card. I used bubble wrap and stamped the yellow and red. The doily is a stencil. It's raised up a bit because of the modeling paste.
Love it. Next came the girl. At first I thought of using the same
color scheme as the background for her dress. This is what I ended up
with.
She learned the lesson of creativity |
I've really enjoyed taking photos. I need to read about my camera and the different settings. I've always been the kind of person that if it gets too technical (and I focus on that) then I don't enjoy the process as much.

Oh my god, the last photograph! ♥
the little birdie ATC is so sweet and you have been so creative with the She Art Girl, love it. Your photos are fab, the last one is awesome! xx
You are having so much fun Kay and it shows, fabulous pieces and wonderful photos too.
Have a good weekend.
hugs {brenda} xox
Fantastic work Kay - and yup, your last photo is totally amazing!
I think you asked about joining in the snippets playground? It's easy peasy. Just make a card, layout, ATC even - but somewhere you use scraps (or snippets as we call them). They can be paper, card, material, ribbon, lace - whatever you find lurking in your leftovers box :) Then do a posting and link it to Mr Linky at the bottom of the latest snippets playground on my blog. The playground closes at midnight UK time on Saturday and I publish the roll call and then there's a new Mr Linky for the next week. No prizes, yet - but I'm working on that one (keep that secret) :)) You'll find people to hop over to see what you've made and it's a good way to find inspiration from others too.
Have a super weekend honey! Love, Di xx
wow, lots of greatness on your blog today! Loving the canvas piece, that's awesome!! And your pictures are fantastic, loving the lion the best, like the way you lined it up on the thirds, really makes you feel at ground level with him! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
Love, love, LOVE your art girl! I need to be more creative overall and do more "stuff" to my projects. That's a totally cute little bird on the big egg. The kitty, in your backyard, no? ;-) You asked where in NM I was. I was in Alamogordo, with a stop off at Hobby Lobby in Las Cruces (woot!).
Kay, what fun you will have with your word - it opens up so many creative possibilites. Your creations are adorable (love your colors) and your She Art girl is SO sweet. I'm like you with my camera (not too hot on technicality) but I've done a lot of experimenting and last year I really began having fun with my camera (very much inspired by Junelle's photographic eye!). Your lion shot is fab!!

Oh WOW, love those photos, I wish I could take really good ones. Sadly lots that I took on holiday have turned out fuzzy or have a bluish tinge.
Great "She" girl, reminds me of the book I bought whilst in America by Julie Nutting.
Keep going with the "word".
