Friday Smiles Week 68 - Classic Blond Joke (and yes, I am blond)

Happy Friday!  The end of another week.  I'm linking up with Annie at  A Stitch In Time.  I don't know about you, but by the end of the week I'm ready for a giggle or two.

Here it goes.

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble.  In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so they can breed their own stock.

Upon leaving, the brunette tells her sister, 'When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home.'

The brunette arrives at the man's ranch, inspects the bull, and decides she wants to buy it.   The man tells her that he will sell it for $599, no less.   After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news.

She walks into the telegraph office, and says, 'I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch.   I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home.'

The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, then adds, it will cost 99 cents a word.   Well, after paying for the bull, the brunette realizes that she'll only be able to send her sister one word.

After a few minutes of thinking, she nods and says, 'I want you to send her the word 'comfortable.'

The operator shakes his head. 'How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her just the word 'comfortable?'

The brunette explains, 'My sister's blonde. The word is big.   She'll read it very slowly... 'com-for-da-bul.'

Kay

WOYWW 306 - Papercrafting (and Material in the Same Project!?!)

Hello everyone!   Happy WOYWW 306!  I'm joining the party that is called What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Our hostess is Julia at  Stamping Ground.  People from around the world join in and show their desks and projects.

I've been doing some papercrafting.  I know, don't fall over! tee hee  A friend is teaching me how to make a travel journal for our Hawaii trip.  Here's some pics of what's gone on so far.
Here's the front of the journal.  Can you see that it shows San Francisco and Hawaii?  I put fabric around an old book cover and glued it down with plain old Elmer's glue.  I used Elmer's glue for the entire project.  It definitely did the trick.
Here I glued the ribbon to the back of the journal.  At this stage it doesn't look pretty but just wait!
What took the most time was cutting the "signatures" to fit the journal.  Here I marked where I need to punch the holes through the signatures.  I labeled the Top so I wouldn't get confused.

I will write a more detailed post on the journal and share how it turned out some time soon.  I'm already looking forward to the next one!

I don't want to write a long post as I know there are plenty of desks to visit.  As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and those that visit me (please leave your number).  This is a full week for me so it will more than likely be Saturday or Sunday before I get around to the majority of desks!

Peace,
Kay

Cycles of Life

Hello all my lovely peeps!  Things have changed for me the last couple of months.  I had to postpone my Hawaii cruise due to health reasons.  Actually, it's just one part of my body that is just giving out.  My left knee.  I've been bone on bone for a while now and I've recently fallen at work a couple of times.  I swear my knee had a bulls eye on it and it was a direct hit.

I've been busy visiting Doctors, making phone calls, and finding some great friends for help.  My surgery is scheduled June 8 and I honestly can't wait.  Yes, I know the pain I will have to endure and the physical therapy that is required.  Believe me, it will be worth it once I come out on the other side!  I'm looking forward to walking like a normal person and hopefully getting some much needed exercise.  When I first bought my condo I walked everywhere - Starbucks, the library, the movie theater, etc.  I'm looking forward to the day I can do that again.

In the meantime, I've lined up the Visiting Nurses that will come to my home for physical therapy and to check on my progress.  A friend of mine will be staying with me the first week I get home so I won't be by myself.  Yep, things are falling into place.

As for the cruise, we've re-scheduled for the end of November.  By that time I should be half way to being fully recovered.

I hope things are going well for each of you.  I've missed blogging - and visiting blogs - for a few weeks now.  Life does go in cycles, doesn't it?

Peace,
Kay

Friday Smiles

Hello everyone.  Today I'm joining in with Annie at  A Stitch In Time.   If you need to smile and giggle hop on over and see what others are sharing.

I've had my share of Doctor appointments lately.  While I was in a waiting room I snapped this photo.  Imagine me sitting there, minding my own business (well, not really) and just dying to take a photo of what was right in front of my eyes!  My smart phone makes a noise when it takes a photo so I kept wondering - should I?  Well, I did and this is what I'm sharing today.
I'm having a total knee replacement in June and during some of my rehabilitation I will be using a cane.  I can assure you that I will NOT be using it in this fashion!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Whatever is going on in your life, don't forget to smile!

Peace,
Kay
