Friday Smiles

Hello everyone!  It's a lovely Friday here; oh, but I started the day with a dental appointment at 8:30 a.m.!  What was I thinking?!?  I thought I'd join Annie for Friday Smiles.  To join in or see what others are smiling about click  HERE.

I hope you all had a wonderful week and look forward to the weekend!  What better way than to see what makes others smile!  My dogs are still up to their antics but I won't bore you with more pics of them.
This is my nephew playing on the varsity high school basketball team.  Yes, he's tall (6'3") and lean.  I wish I would have gotten a bit of that family gene as I'm 5'3" and vertically challenged!  I love watching him play.  Sometimes his feet get in his way.  He's a junior (11th grade) so I'll have one more year of watching him.  They won this game on Monday against an excellent rival.  Go Toppers!!

Go Number 42!!

And here's the funny part!  I couldn't resist this card.  I love the artwork and the saying had me laughing out loud.  I hope you can make it out.  If not "Hey..... I believe I've got your goat"  tee hee

Have a wonderful weekend!

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 403

Hello everyone.  I'm joining in with Julia for WOYWW.  Go to her blog HERE  to join in the fun or have a good snoop at craft spaces all around the world!  Thank you, Julia, for bringing us all together!

I managed to get my rug turned around so the bottom drawers on my desk open up.  Yay!  I just had to move everything off the floor to do it.  Still slowly putting things away.

I took another class at Guadalupe Rubber Stamp Store. It was using stamping pads (not permanent) and markers to create a beginnings of a card.  I did a little masking, which I hadn't done a lot of before.
Can you tell it's a "she?"  I added a bit of pink to her cheeks!  I'll go back in and add something to the red plants.

A cute little raccoon peeking around a planter.  Again, I need to add something to this one too.  The instructor started rushing us a half hour before the class was to end.  Wasn't happy about that as it was added pressure!  I hadn't done anything inky in a while and I didn't need to deal with THAT!

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and those that leave a comment (please leave your number).   There was someone last week where I couldn't leave a comment - sorry, can't remember who it was.

Happy WOYWW
Peace,
Kay

Friday Smiles

Hello everyone!  It's a lovely Friday here; waiting for the next snow to start.  I thought I'd join Annie for Friday Smiles.  To join in or see what others are smiling about click  HERE.

I'm having a great time getting settled in my new home.  The walls are plaster so I haven't hung much on the walls yet.  What really makes me happy is how comfortable the dogs are in their new home!  Katie (here) and Muffin (below) are so happy with their front yard view and the large backyard.

Katie still enjoying the swivel chair.  She loves laying there and watching me - lately working in my planner.
Muffin still happy on the couch.  Except she likes jumping onto the swivel chair when Katie isn't there.  Sometimes both of them lay on the chairs, one in each.  Silly girls.
They still enjoy jumping up on the couch to look out at the yard.  I bought a king size blanket and have that over the couch now.  At least I can remove that and wash all the muddy paw prints off!
Here they both are, sharing one of the chairs.  That's my bathrobe they are laying on.

 I love my girls.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 402

Hello everyone.  I'm joining in with Julia for WOYWW.  Go to her blog HERE  to join in the fun or have a good snoop at craft spaces all around the world!  Thank you, Julia, for bringing us all together!

My craft room hasn't seen much progress.  I've unpacked the last three boxes but I'm going to have to rearrange my rug as my bottom drawers on my desk won't open!  That means moving everything out, move the rug, and start organizing.  It's getting close.  I put together my second Ikea cart, this one in a burnt orange.  I lined the shelves and put all my acrylic paints in there.   I have a feeling there must be more lurking somewhere.

I had started working in my planner Super Bowl Sunday.  I finally picked it up again and have been working on it in the living room.  Hey, when you live by yourself ANY room can be a craft room!

I love working in my planner.  I keep it in my bedroom so I can see what's coming up.  So far I'm still in the "decorating" stage.

This is the month of October.  Yep, I'm pretty sure I've chosen a date for retirement.  Friday, October 13, 2017!  The following day I leave for a New England/Canada cruise.  Yep, I think I'm going out with a bang!!!
Sorry it's a little blurry.  I was probably overtkaen with excitement!  I'm meeting my HR Benefits representative next week.  I've met with a CPA and he says it's doable.  I was so relieved to hear that from someone with his background!

Here's a look out the front while I'm sitting in my chair working on my planner.  The yard has been cleaned up and trimmed back.  It took three trips to the dump and there's still stuff to be done!
As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and also those that visit me (please leave your number).  It may be the weekend before I get around but I'll do my best.

Peace,
Kay

Nesting Progress

Hello peeps.  I want to share with you what I've done to my new digs.  I moved in November and have had fun doing the whole nesting thing.  It's been a slow process as I really didn't want to put something away and then move it later.  Although that does happen quite naturally when you are learning about your space and how you will use it.

I painted the bathroom a light blue and the appliances are white.  I have a beautiful pedestal sink (you can barely see it here).

I bought the painting above the toilet at a thrift store.  It's a bear standing up.  I took the coral/red color from that and bought towels.  He looks crooked here but it's the photographer, not the art!
Isn't he cute!  I believe it's an oil painting and it was cut from a larger painting and framed.  I wonder what happened to the rest of it?!?
You can see a bit more of the bathroom.  This was before I moved the painting down and added the metal art.  I would like to replace the light fixture and put in an outlet.  Can you believe there isn't an outlet in the bathroom!   This is the only bathroom that I have.

Next I'll show you the living room.  It took a few transformations due to the dogs and the swivel chairs.  What a story that is!

Peace,
Kay

Color Burst Class

Hello peeps!  I hope everyone is doing well.  I recently took a class at the Guadalupe Rubber Stamp Store in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  It was so much fun and I finally did something creative.  I took this class mainly because my hands were itching to get dirty.  I haven't organized my craft room since I've moved and am itching to get in there!  This class was a motivator to make that happen!

The class was painting on a tote bag that had been designed using a cat stencil.

We used a product called Color Burst.  They are powders that react to a liquid (I can't remember what we used but a little went a long way).  You also don't need much of the powder either.
It was so much fun to decide which colors to use.  Being in the southwest I knew I wanted to use turquoise and pink.  First we painted around the cat with white acrylic paint.  That helped keep the colors vibrant and not soak into the canvas.
I took this class with two of my good friends.  They enjoyed it just as much as I did!  I wish I would have thought to take photos of everyone's finished projects.  They were all so different and unique.

I am definitely interested in working with Color Bursts again.  It was so much fun and interesting to see how the finished project looked.

Have you used Color Bursts yet?  What did you make?

Peace,
Kay
