Native American Pottery

I met my dad and Mary at the Buffalo Thunder Resort/Casino for dinner.  While I was waiting I whipped out my camera and got these great photos of some of the native american pottery.  Usually I don't pay attention to the pottery (we see it everywhere), but with a new eye, I was amazed.  I kept thinking of possible doodle patterns.
What about you?  What do you see all the time, but then suddenly, you see it through a different set of eyes?  How does that inspire what you do?

Peace,

Kay

WOYWW 210 - Messiness Abounds!

Hi everyone.  It's week number 210 for WOYWW.  Hosted by the lovely Julia at Stamping GroundRumor has it that there's an article about WOYWW coming out in Featuring Magazine.  I've already ordered my copy; do you plan to get one?

Finally, all my ATCs have been mailed.  I've also started receiving some fun things - some you'll spot on my desk this week.  Thank you all for sharing your creativity!!

So, the condo is officially off the market.  Let the mess begin!  Oh my, I've let it get a bit out of hand, as you can see here.  I used glitter and I must say I'm not sure I'll be using it again any time soon.
ATCs from Janet (with a challenge), Annie, Nan, Roudi, Joynana and Elizabeth.  Also amongst them is the lovely spoon I recently won from BJ!  YAY.  I love getting happy mail! Look at the little tubes of glitter, a stack of cards I made using my photographs, my black stamp pad and some well used stamps, markers and my basket full of catch all stuff.  Also some stamps, both international and USA.

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and those that visit me (please leave your number).  It's possible that it may not be until the weekend until I get around but I'll do my very best.

Peace,
Kay

Wildfire Close To Town

UPDATE:  People that had been evacuated are now allowed to return to their homes.  Also, NM4 (a two lane mountain road) is now open.  The fire is around 45% contained.  Smoke plumes are expected to be bad all week due to hot weather.  So thankful for all the firefighters - from quite a few different states.

Every year there are wildfires in New Mexico.  Two years ago this month I was evacuated due to a wildfire.  I was displaced from my home for over a week.

Right now there's a wildfire at Thompson Ridge.  It was started by a downed power line.  What I don't understand is that the fire two years ago was caused by the same thing.  You'd think the power company would be responsible for maintaining a clear path under the lines so this would be prevented.  I just don't get it.

The fire is known as the Thompson Ridge fire - the Ridge where it started.  Some people have been evacuated from their homes since last Saturday (and possibly last Friday).
A picture I took from Town
All of the pictures below I pulled from various sources.

Thanks to all the firefighters, both locally and from other states.  We appreciate all you are doing to protect homes and our beautiful land.

Peace,
Kay

Old Family Photos

Hi all.  I've been doing a bit of scanning of family photos.  I've really enjoyed looking through my sewing box full of photos.
My Grandma and Grandpa Wilson and my Mom
This photo was probably taken at Calaveras Big Trees State Park in California.  The trees are huge!  For more information visit their website HERE.
Grandpa Wilson with his Catch of the Day
Grandma and Grandpa Wilson had nine children; my mom being the baby.  We would always go over to my Grandparents house for these wonderful meals.  Usually it's catfish fish fries.  The table was covered with all kinds of yummy food!  My Grandma Wilson was one of the BEST cooks around.  Her pies were heavenly.  It was a talent my Mom also had.

Me looking at Grandma Wilson's knick knack cabinet
I guess I came by collecting things quite honestly.  The date on the photo is May 1962 - let's see, that would make me around three years old.

What about you?  Do you have some favorite photos from the past?  What do you do with them?

Peace,
Kay
