An Old Adobe

When I first moved to New Mexico I saw the adobe houses and didn't
 think much about them.
I was eighteen years old and didn't want to move.
I had lived in only one town my entire life - I had friends that I would be leaving behind.  Nope, wasn't thrilled to be moving to New Mexico.

Yesterday I took a drive to some places I'd not been before. I'll share that in another post. Today is all about an old adobe that I found near the San Juan Pueblo.
Over the years I've embraced New Mexico.  The old structures really call to me.
I love them.
Imagine those adobe bricks made by hand, to build a home.
A lot of the homes were one big room at first.  As the family grew so did the house.
They made some mud, mix in a little bit of straw to build another room.
Houses full of character, full of stories.
Peace,
Kay

Wonderful photos Kay! Still owe you an email but am just recovering from the roll call write up - not least the antics of Mrs A on a pogo stick - I almost wet myself laughing, she truly cracks me up :) Big hugs, Di xxv

Wow, to have that to photograph, such texture and history. I love the photos, especially the lock, great rustic feature. Now to my ignorance of adobe house, I see door and window frames ( which surprised me ) did they have glass in their windows? Is this a silly question? Your photos look great! waving hi from the windy hills of North Carolina :)

I am super impressed with the history behind these walls. Your photos speak volumes about the land and the old adobe. No such beauty anywhere near my part of the country.

Love these shots Kaye, they do this old structure justice. I especially like the one in which you can see through the house to the back, very nice!

I love New Mexico and I'm trying to get my best friend to met me there for a vacation. She does not see the beauty . . . well to each his own. I love the art of New Mexico and the history. It's such a blend of Pioneer, Native American, Mexican and Cowboy culture. It's still got an element of the raw west. What's not to love! Your photos are great. Is this old home in your town? Keep taking photos . . I so enjoy them. Your blogging friend, Connie
