The Perch Paperie

Woo hoo.  There's a new store in town!  It's called "The Perch Paperie."
Cutting the ribbon is the owner, Gloria Brehm.
This is exciting news!  I have a place where I can go to without leaving the Hill for scrapbook paper, rubber stamps, inks and all kinds of vintage ephemera.  It's a fun little shop.  I've already taken a class there and really enjoyed it.

The class was taught by Pam and her daughter Felicia.  We created a mixed media wall hanging using the hard back of a book.  We also used all kinds of vintage ribbon, buttons, flowers and sari silk ribbon.
The image was transferred onto some muslin-type fabric prior to class.  Then we had to wipe off all the paper until the image came through.  It's two cute little bluebirds sitting on a branch.  I stitched the branch using some cross-stitch thread.

Sorry about the glare.  I tried to take care of it with editing the photo but was unsuccessful.  I'm tickled pink with my finished project.

My computer is giving me fits.  It's REAL slow so I'm going to try to download all my photos onto a thumb drive.  Wish me luck!

Peace,
Kay

Oh fab news, a new shop. That's quite a happy thing when so many small shops are closing, like one here in my town. And what a fun little mixed media project. I can see you enjoyed making it.

What fun to have an actual scrapbook store near you!! Lovely little mixed media piece, interesting that it was done on a hardbook cover, hadn't thought of trying that! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

What a lovely project you made, and sounds like a real fun class. Lucky you to have a place so close where you can take classes & get supplies (well, MAYBE on the lucky! my will power is weak). You did a fantastic job on this technique, and I bet you have lots of images you are thinking of just how you can use to do this again. TFS & hugs. Hope the 'move' is progressing satisfactorily too. The waiting is aggravating I know..but it will come when it's supposed to take place.
