Altoid Tin Alteration Blog Hop

Hello all.  I'm linking up with Roni over at Ink Stains.  She's celebrating her five year anniversary by hosting an Altoid Tin Alteration Blog Hop.  Happy Anniversary Roni!  Thank you for supplying the Altoid Tin for this project!

This is my first time altering a tin.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do but wasn't sure how it would come together.  First I spray painted the tin turquoise, a nice southwestern color.  I added the little spools to give it some legs.

I've been collecting sayings and thought how nice to have a little treasure box full of positive thoughts. When I have visitors I'll invite them to "Take What They Need."

I printed out the sayings onto watercolor paper then splattered the paper with turquoise, pink and yellow watercolors.  Once the watercolor was dry I tore around the edges.
I put "Take What You Need" on the front of the tin, along with a couple of paper flowers.  I used some of the paper that lines the interior onto the front, distressing the paper with TH Distress ink.   I wrapped some ribbon around the bottom and sanded around the edges of the tin so some of the red would show through.

I glued Believe In Yourself on the inside of the lid so that when anyone opens it they'll see it.

I've been thinking about this for a while and for one reason or another never got around to taking the time.  One of the sayings is "Make It Happen."  You can see it peeking out.

Peace,
Kay

Love the idea of having the sayings collected together in a tin and ready for visitors to peruse. The tin is perfect to hold them, I love the little spools as feet.

Oh my goodness Kay this is such a lovely idea!! What a sweet person you are to create such a giving tin! I'm sure all of your friends will be delighted when they see it and "take what they need".

For your first tin I'd say it's a huge success! Thank you so much for sharing your time and creativity with us all!

I finally found a way to leave you a comment. I went to my translator and can leave one this way. Your tin is perfect. I can't believe this is your very first tin. What a way to share your talents and show your generosity. You did all this in this lovely tin. BTW, those spools are the crowning touch.

Oh you clever little sausage - it's fab Kay. What a sweet idea and so nicely made and presented - is there one in there saying 'go back to where you love as soon as possible'? Love and hugs, Di xx

Ha, ha, went to a 'Hoe-down' the other night, yack!! I did the biz and dressed accordingly but dancing to a cross between Irish/Scottish music just didn't cut it somehow - nothing like the magical evening at La Fonda in Santa Fe. Sigh :( xx

Do you mean you and Len coming back to NM? I would be OVER THE MOON so happy!!! Just wait until I get my new place - I'll have plenty of room for visitors!

La Fonda is special, that's for sure!

Hugs,
Kay

Hi there. Can't believe it's your first tin, it's lovely, such a great idea and I love the feet too. You asked about the tissue tape I used on my tin. It's a Tim Holtz product and is what it says, a thinnish, semi translucent adhesive printed tissue on a roll. It's fabulous stuff! Washi tape is kind of similar I think.
