WOYWW - Hail to the Queen

Hail to the Queen!  Last night I watched the Diamond Jubliee concert.   I've been using my Union Jack tote this week to help celebrate.
Thanks to pinterest for the images!

On to business - er, I mean, crafty business.  I have almost all my ATCs out in the mail (have just a few stragglers) and am starting to receive some.  I'll post photos next week.  I'm linking up with Julia over at Stamping Ground.  This is the greatest of all blog hops.  You'll get to peek in on creative desks all over the world.

Here's what's on my desk
Knitted bracelets on my angels wings
Knitted scarf in the background - more yarn, my colored pencils
Fabric that I recently bought
Love this fabric - but don't know what I'm going to do with it.  Any ideas?
I have an idea for this fabric..... don't you love these monkeys!
A close up on the scarf
I have a dilema.  I'll be in a Crafts Fair in November and I've been making things to sell.  I'm all over the place with what I've been doing.  If a craft booth has lots of different types of things would you be more inclined to stop and browse?  I really enjoy doing all kinds of crafting - but don't want one craft to be a distraction to another.  What do you think?

Thanks for visiting my desk!  As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and also those that visit me.  Please add your number to your comment so I can easily find you.

Peace,
Kay

Hi Kay, great photos of taken during the jollifications - I watched it all in the comfort of my home and I have to admit we Brits are great at throwing a party :) Love all the knitted goodies on your desk this week and both the fabrics are lovely - the French inspired one would make a beautiful shabby chic pillow - I could just see it with other frilly and lacy pillows scattered on a bed. BTW, I'm always drawn to stalls that have a good mix of items on sale, I enjoy looking at all sorts of craft work. Hope you have had a happy WOYWW. Elizabeth x #48

You had a great jubilee there!
I have been selling my works at craft fairs, and I think it´s good to have different kind of things on your table - but about the same style, so the ensemble remains balanced... hope you understand what I mean!
You asked about my pic of the art dolls... yes, the green one is a little wooden Indian elephant :)
Happy WOYWW!

Hi Kay, what a great post, don't know where to start. I like Elizabeth's idea, I would add lots of lace to it, a little across the front and lots round the edges. Or - a lovely tote bag so that it could be shown off - or a case for an I-pad thingy maybe....how I wish I lived near you, I would love your stand, particularly as it would have lots to look at and not just one thing. Hope it goes well for you, I reckon you will sell loads. Love the angel too. Thanks for your visit, I have not quite reached your number yet! Happy WOYWW, Anne x #24

PS - love the horses in your previous post too. x

Lovelovelove the French/travel fabric! And your knitted bracelets are adorable. :)

When it comes to craft fair booths, I am drawn to a mix of things. You never know what will draw someone in, so a mix will appeal to a broad range of folks. One of the most important things is how you set up your table. If you haven't done a craft fair before, check out Flickr for ideas: http://www.flickr.com/search/groups/?q=craft%20fair

There are a couple of groups dedicated to craft fair set-up and it's so fun to browse!

Cheers,

Great pictures Kay, and I love that French fabric - would have to make a tote from that or a frilly apron for serving afternoon tea. I do like the monkey fabric too - that's fun!
Not a clue on the table but I know I would want to keep to some kind of theme almost - I don't know how to explain - don't have it looking like a jumble sale, I guess. Oh, one thing, I would start saving boxes and things to make it have different tiers to display things on. You know with a piece of fabric over the whole table and up and down bits for display.
(Gosh I am rubbish aren't I?)
Bowing out before she makes a complete mess.

Monkey likes the monkey fabric best! He thinks he knows him!!
I could do with your scarf on - it is freezing in the UK right now!

Some lovely makes there and fab fabrics too. I'd say that you can display several types of items together and as long as you group them and display them attractively they should draw people to look and buy. Say in colour shades, with attractive display props etc. Take a look in good quality gift shops for inspiration. Good luck and thanks for your visit too.

Hi Kay, Loving your desk, I am addicted to fabrics myself and I know how you feel. Both of the ones we have seen to-day are fabulous. As a craftperson who did craft shows for years, I think a variety of thngs is the bnetter option and will get you more customers too. Good Luck with the crafts. Hugs from Scotland. Rita 17 xx

The knitting looks great, love the little bracelts
lovely fabrics you have there, I think the paris one would make a lovely apron, but it would be a shame to get food all over it.
craft fairs can be tricky I have done a fair few myself. no two ever seem the same , but generally a variety of craft the same style work well and give your customers a choice, also keep the dislays simple
Are you still swapping ATC's as I still have a couple left it would be a sahme not to ust them, just e mail me if you want to.

I would make a cushion out of that gorgeous fabric complete with pink piping or ribbons or buttons - very feminine and pretty.
I have found when it comes to craft fairs that if you have too many different types of crafts, people don't look properly. If you have fewer things on the stand, but displayed nicely (use wooden boxes etc as props) then people's attention is attracted. Good Luck!

I think you should craft the things that make you happy in the crafting, not what you think people will be interested in. Just when you think you have it sorted out, people will surprise you and go for the thing you thought would get no attention. Right? You are blessed with wide-ranging talents. Using them all, as the muse strikes you, is your gift back. IMHO. Anyway, everything is gorgeous and fun to look at. Thanks for coming by to visit me! Darnell 56

The first piece of fabric makes me think maybe apron...or tablecloth? I love it! The scarf is beautiful! I think a booth with lots of different one-of-a-kind items would be more intriguing than one with lots of one thing. I have a problem with doing one thing over and over. I think I'd have one of each item with no repeats, lol!
I enjoyed the Diamond Jubilee, too! (On TV, here in the U.S.!)
Thanks for visiting my desk!

I love that fabric, I would make cushions for my family room with it (if I could sew). You are so clever with all the knitting and sewing. Goodluck with the craft fair when it comes up. Your ATC is on its way, our mail is very slow so could take a while.
Have a great week.

Oh I so envy that you can knit. I've tried to and I'm all thumbs! That fabric is awesome! I'm more inclined to stop at a booth that has variety as long as it's neatly arranged and attractive. #2

Hi Kay,
I watched the Jubilee celebrations from all the way here in the Philippines! It's lovely to see how the Queen is much loved and honored! What fun!
I'd love to browse in a craft stall with lots of interesting things! And your Paris cloth, I should think anything you made with it would be a hit! And why do I say this? Because in our store, anything with the Eiffel tower sells!! And customers ask for more! I'd love a nice vintage-y apron! Or a skirt! Or a bag or a... I tell you, anything! patsy

I love what you create and I would stop by a craft booth anytime as long as it peeks my curiosity and it is not messy. You have to get the shoppers attension. Oh the monkeys are really cute.

Well, craft fayres aren't my thing - the only one I ever did with a friend was a total disaster. I made a loss! :( But, I then took the Christmas table decorations to our local hospice and gave them so they weren't wasted. Looks like some super things going on - as for the Paris fabric, I'd charge folk to just stroke it - it's gorgeous!

Belated Happy WOYWW!

LOVE that monkey fabric! :o) The scarf is really pretty. I haven't been to many craft fairs, but I would definately stop to look at a stall with variety, but it may be easier to catch peoples eye if you display similar crafts together rather just a big mix, if you know what I mean :o) x April#79

LLJ - oh, but you can sew..... I actually found a simple looking tote pattern on pinterest. My sewing machine is buried in the back of the closet (a deep closet) so will have to do some digging to get it out.

Kay

I love the scarf! I would be likely to stop and look if you had a variety of different things at your booth, however, as I walk by I would need to be able to see that--so make sure passersby can see you have a variety. I am not a sock monkey fan but he is kind of cute there. I love that photo of the Queen. She looks mischievous!

I would definitely go with a number of things to catch peoples attention when browsing. Love the new fabric, they're both brilliant in their different ways.

Hi there Kay, yes love the monkey material of course!!
... and so agree with others above, the more to see and more variety would catch my eye - but good presentation is the key ie not too squashy and have it colour co-ordinated so items dont yell at one another but are appealing to the eye..
If you know what I mean...Thanks so much for popping over and thanks for sharing ~ happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz. x #8

So much gorgeousness to look at this week. We love all sorts of crafts so our craft stalls always end up being full of all sorts of crafty things - people love to browse and discuss how they are made etc so I don't think it matters much. Maybe as a stall it doesn't have "window dressing" looks but stuff still sells!! x Jo

I have some of that frenchy girl fabric too! Well, that's what I call it. :)
I think I bought mine planning to cover my chair cushions with it...? Like a seat cover...Or else to make a pillow, IDK. It's so darling you could make just about anything with it, huh? And I've no idea's at all about a craft fair as I have never done such a thing...I don't think I'm that productive! It would probably take me 3 years to come up with enough stuff to fill a decent sized booth! lol Hope it goes well for you, though. :)

Love that retro French fabric! Would make a cute shopping tote.
I used to work trade shows and our booth was crammed full with our products but always had "flow" and room to shop. We always had the most shoppers because they had to stop for a while to see everything. Also gives you a chance to talk to them. Be sure to have plenty of business cards with all your info so you can get future customers. Some may not buy that day but may return by contacting you later. Oh, and maybe a bowl of candy on the table... people love getting free stuff ;)
Have a great time!!!
hugs!

Apologies for my late visit Kay, but better late than never eh?
The photo of the Queen is fantastic...she looks like she's having a great time and really relaxed :D
How cute is that monkey fabric...I wouldn't have a clue what to do with it but whatever you decide I'm sure will be a winner. Don't forget to let us see later.
I think there's nothing better than a stall full of treasures...a feast for the eyes. There's possibly more chance that they'll be something on your stall to grab their attention and hopefully be irresistible ;D
Have a great weekend...we're having a long one due to the Queens birthday ~ whoohoo. Neesie #7

Hi Kay, I am amazed at your knowledge of blogging. When people talk about linking, hopping, partying, whatever . . . it's all Greek to me. I was asked about linking to some party or something once and I had no idea what they were talking about. I guess there is a lot out there that people are doing and enjoying that is over my head. Is there a book? How did you learn all this stuff? Oh, love your photos of the barn in San Luis, Colorado. I also think that the Queen would feel honored to know that a lady in New Mexico, USA, was celebrating her jubilee. The more I get to know you, the better I like you. Have a great day, your blogging friend, Connie :)

Sorry I am so late getting around again this week but with the growing numbers and 'life' it just takes longer to get it done. Have a great week. Vickie #51
