WOYWW 207 - Felted Purse!

Welcome to WOYWW.  For those of you not familiar with WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) it was started by Julia at Stamping Ground.  The four year anniversary is next week.  Congrats to Julia and to all that participate.  I have been blessed to meet some fantastic people through WOYWW.  I only wish I could attend the crop!

Read about the Anniversary ATC swap HERE.  I've committed to some of you already about swapping -- if I did please step forward!  Can you tell that I've lost my list?  Yep, total airhead.  If you'd like to swap please let me know in your comment.  I will be on vacation through the end of May so mine won't be mailed until the first part of June.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I'd lost my thumb drive; which I found this weekend!  There were a lot of people that weren't familiar with them.  I have the majority of my photos downloaded onto it.
Thumb drive with quarter
As for my desk.  I felted my purse and here it is.  The unfelted bag measured 13 inches long.  Imagine my dismay that it shrank up to around 9 inches!  I wanted it to be a bit deeper.  The handles, on the other hand, didn't shrink up nearly the same.
Not yet felted

Felted

Thanks for visiting me!  I will visit those that visit me and also those that end in the same number.  After that then I'll drop in on others as I can.

Peace,
Kay

Even though it shrunk your bag looks fantastic. You are very clever.
Have a great week.

I had to laugh at Vonny's comment. Does she not know that is what felting does to a piece? I hope so.

Glad you found your thumb drive. Yep, they are small. My neighbor has one she wears around her neck when she goes places she wants to show her photos. Not sure if it came with the clip thingy that holds the neck chain, but if not, it was clever of her to come up with the set-up.

Happy WOYWW from another person with no number yet.

Oops, hope it is still useful at 9".
Not heard of a thumb drive before so must investigate.
Happy WOYWW and thanks for your earlier visit.

You certainly have fingers in various crafting pies!! Love the bag and of course the colour, as green is my favourite colour :-). Sorry that it didn't end up as big as you wanted but it is still beautiful!! Glad you found your usb stick lol, I have a heap of them as I constantly lose them! But I back up my photos to an external hard drive as the thumb drives are notorious for breaking down after a while. Have a great week and happy WOYWW.

What you call a thumb drive, we call a flash drive. Very useful little things to have so I can imagine how pleased you were to find it again. Love your purse, it looks great, have always wanted to try felting and now I will store away the fact that it shrinks!! Annette #23

Great looking bag even shortened. You can some times steam block them and it will change the depth. If think we agreed to swap ATC this year. Did I send my address? Have fun on vacation! Have a great week. Vickie #26

Ooh a thumb drive! Googling that in a bit!
Never tried felting before, but your bag looks fine to me. It's so pretty and I think the shrinking part wouldn't be a problem. :)

Thanks for the peek! Happy WOYWW. xx

Hi there Kay! Pleased your memory stick reappeared :)

Super bag there too hun- but a dumb question here. Do you have to knittyknat the whole thing before then doing the hot wash to felt it? Sigh, I know, I know - my guess that was the whole point of knitting it first rather than pre-felting and just sewing a bag.

How are the girlies doing? And we need an update piccie of Poppy sometime.

Happy WOYWW my dear friend!

Love and hugs, Di xx

Yay I can comment! (it wouldn't let me you know!) Love the 'felted' bag but the other one was nice too! Actually, I do know what you mean by felting, but, looking at Vonny's comment, I once shrunk a jumper and it 'felt' sooo fab that I put it away (too small to wear) so I could play with it one day, now....where is it? you've reminded me about it! Thank you for my snoop!
Have a HaPpY WoYwW!

A thumb drive is a new one on me, Kay. Love your bag though, shrunk or not it's a stunning colour. I'm sure you'll still be able to use it all the time, it deserves to be seen.

LOL! I found a partially (actually NEARLY) done knitted bag that just needs a bit more knitting then felting. Funnily the colours are not too far off yours.

Lovely.

Oh my gosh, if I lost my thumbdrive I would really panic! So glad you found it. I'm going over to check out WOYWW and see if I can join in. My area is always a disaster. I LOVE the felted purse. Great job and I enjoyed the before and after pics. I always wondered how big it had to be before felting. BTW, I'll trade ATCs with you!

I absolutely love the combination of yarns you used in your bag. You know that is going on my list of projects to try.
I keep all my photos on micro disks and coppies on an old laptop....just in case. Losing photos would be a nightmare.
gotta run....see you next week for the big party.
I would love to trade ATCs with you.

Hi Kay, well, your felted bag is lovely even if it has shrunk more than you thought. I guess there are many variables in this process. I would love to swap ATC's with you again this year, if that's ok. Hope you have a great vacation, look forward to seeing the pics.
Happy art making

Hi kay, great purse (mini-purse?? lol!!), and snooped on your class post -what a great canvas!

I've never made an ATC, and crafting time severely limited with house move and being laid up with duff knee - who knew stairs could be so challenging! Will wait til next week to see if I have anything to trade :-)

Apologies for being so late visiting this week – life simply intervened! Glad you found your flash drive - I have several of these - one is dedicated to photos of my grandchildren - and have each of them on a cord that hang around my neck so that I don't lose them. Love your purse even though it didn't shrink in the way you hoped for.

Ahhh! Look how late I am running! I really thought I had paid all my return visits over the weekend but I must have just dreamed that bit of politeness because here I am on Tuesday, racing the clock! Thanks for visiting me and leaving such a sweet comment. :) I do love the cherries, too, and since I only made one set which I almost immediately put to use I guess I'll be stitching up lots more of them soon, huh? :)
Love your bag, both before and after. You're so very talented! :)
