WOYWW 169

Yep, Wednesday again - and the end of August no less!  I mean, really?  It's the day that I expose myself to all that dare take a peak.  It all starts at Julia's blog - Stamping Ground.  Click here to go where it all begins.

I picked up my desk a bit and have been playing with my Cuttlebug.  I used a Tim Holtz die (butterflies) and cut them out of a Starbucks coffee wrap.  Both of my B plates were cut with the die so I'm not sure what I did wrong.  I like how the butterflies came out though.
This is just a small corner of my table
Here's a full angle shot.
I've been knitting a cowl with some hand-dyed yarn.  The two white things are candlesticks found at the local thrift store.  In the red cup is a collection of silverware also bought at the thrift store (there's a hint as to what I'm going to do with them right in the cup).  Notice the tiny stack of embossing folders.  Peaking out behind the cup is a bumper sticker that needs to go on the car.  It says "Wag More, Bark Less."  Believe it or not I'm a nicer driver when I have that sticker on my car.....

And now, since there were a lot of food photos last week.  Here's a snack I had at a local restaurant last week.
Chips, salsa and guacamole -- ole
As always, I'll visit those that end in the same number as me and also those that visit me (please leave your number).  Then I visit as many others as I can.

Peace,
Kay

Paper and Me

I've wondered if I'm truly a paper person.  Yes, I love paper.  I remember as a kid getting a new tablet and having a hard time making the first mark on that clean piece of paper.  Are you like that too?

Lately I've been thinking about my Cuttlebug.   I was given a gift card to Hobby Lobby and bought some dies and an embossing folder.  I still haven't used the dies but I'm lovin' the embossing folder.

The papers are from Stampin' Up and the embossing folder is Stylized Flowers by Cuttlebug.   All my ATCs and cards are on the simple side.  I stamped french script on the green paper using a Versamark pad.  Next time I'll use the same ink as the paper for a more dramatic effect.
Pink paper design by Doodle Deux 6 x 6 sheets.  The paper clip is from Melody Ross Soul Food.  The butterfly is from a scrapbook kit I was given years and years ago.
Here's a card that I made a special friend.

WOYWW 168 and Candy Winner

THANK YOU to all my new followers!!  I'm blown away by all the love!!!

Today is my favorite day of the week!  It's WOYWW hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground. If you don't know what it's all about you really need to check it out.  You'll be amazed.  Just click on the red text above and it'll take you to her blog - where it all begins.

No desk for me today.   So right to the candy we go.

I've never done the random thing before - so google here I come!  I found a tutorial on using Excel for a random generator number so that's what I did.   I couldn't figure out how to make the image show on my post.  Next time I'll research it a bit longer - or for those of you that have done it - could you email me directions?

Are you ready.......  the winning number is 41 -- which is May!  Congratulations May.  Please email me your mailing address and I'll get your package off to you!  My email is 505whimsygirl@gmail.com.

As always, I'll visit everyone that visits me and also those that end in the same number.  I must confess, I usually stop visiting either Friday evenings - or sometimes Saturday morning.

Peace,
Kay

Blog Candy is Closed

I'd like to thank everyone who is participating in my blog candy.  I actually reached 100 followers too!  Thank you!!!!

I'm closing it and can't wait to see who wins.  The box is packed with the goodies (and a few little extras).  I'll announce the winner on Wednesday in my WOYWW post.  I'm hoping that I can get the random selector to work..... if not I'll have a co-worker draw a name on Tuesday.

This past year has been full of highs and lows.  One of the highlights is meeting everyone through this thing called blogs.  My life has been so enriched - in every aspect.  Thank you all for being a part of that.  May we have many more years of sharing.

Today has been a lazy day.  I hired someone to clean up the front area (11 bags of pine needles and pine cones) and it looks so much better.  The Shred It truck is in town so I went through old records and took a bag for shredding.  For those that aren't familiar with the Shred It truck; it's a huge truck with a heavy duty double cross shredder in it.  There is no charge and they shred whatever you bring them - as much as you want.  I usually have bad timing and miss when they are in town.

Now I'm sitting in Starbucks where there is air conditioning, typing this post and drinking a lemon drink.  Yum.  Yep, life is good.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW and Blog Candy!!!

THANK YOU to all my new followers!!  I hope you enjoy your visits to my little piece of blogland.  I want to please so if there's something that you'd enjoy seeing more of please let me know.

Woo hoo!  Today is my favorite day of the week!  It's WOYWW hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground. If you don't know what it's all about you really need to check it out.  You'll be amazed.  Just click on the red text above and it'll take you to her blog - where it all begins.

Here's a photo of my desk - with some new things.  Fabric, some yarn, Tim Holtz tickets, 6 x 6 pack of paper and the stuff that was on there last week.
And now, for what you may really want to see.  The blog candy.  The majority of votes were for a canvas.  So - ask and ye shall receive.  This is a little canvas that I just love.  It's one of a kind.  Someone asked what I do with the Starbucks coffee wrap -- well, the bird on the canvas is cut out from one of those!  Anything that you need bits of cardboard -- those Starbucks coffee wraps are perfect!
My tweet canvas, Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Broken China),
the Paper Studio Christmas ribbon, Dream Big stamp,
Tim Holtz idea-ology Adage Tickets
These are the things I took a photo of.  I'll be adding some other items to the candy too.

Here's the rules for the candy.  Leave a comment on this post and be a follower.  If you want, put it on your sidebar and let me know (your name will be put in the hat an extra time for this).  You don't have to be a WOYWW participant to enter.

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and those that leave a comment here.  It may take me a while but I'll do my best, promise.

Peace,
Kay

Project Pinterest - Painting on Glass

I can't help myself.  I keep pinning and pinning.  I have a couple of projects going right now based on pins.  Here's the one I want to show you this week.  I really liked the confetti look on the glasses.  I thought I could do that with whatever glass object I have.  I was lucky enough to find a sweet little vase at the thrift store.
Original source here
Here's my sweet little vase.  I used the eraser end of a pencil and used acrylic paints.  Since I did it on the outside I can put water in the vase.  I haven't sealed the outside yet so will have to be careful.
Tulips in honor of my bird, Tulip

WOYWW 166 and One Year Anniversary

Thank you all for your well wishes and kind words!   You all made me feel the love and support.  I so appreciate my blog family.

Onto the business at hand.  Today is my favorite day of the week (well, besides weekends when I don't have to go to work)!  It's WOYWW hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground. If you don't know what it's all about you really need to check it out.  You'll be amazed.  Just click on the red text above and it'll take you to her blog - where it all begins.

Here's my desk - as it is right now.  In all it's glory.  I've been working with paper - getting in the groove of making some cards and ATCs.
I can't believe that a year ago today I started my blog.  I had no idea what I was doing (and still don't).  I know how much pleasure I have in looking at other blogs, the connections I feel.  I'm so thankful for all of my blogging friends.  To my followers, thank you.  I'm amazed that each of you have chosen to follow my little blog, especially when there's so many choices out there!

I will announce some blog candy in the near future.  I need to do some shopping  -- Tim Holtz will be involved (because I know how much all of you just love him).  I've also thought of including something that I've made -- which one would you like to see?  A canvas, knitted spa clothes (ok, really - they are dish cloths - or face cloths) or painted clothes pins?  Just let me know in your comment -- the majority wins!

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me.  I will also visit those that visit me -- I've been successful in doing it this way (at least I'm pretty sure I've been successful - if somehow I missed someone I am so sorry).  Then I visit others as time permits.

Peace,
Kay

Thrift Store Find

I found this cool stand that I thought I could use at arts and crafts sales.  I took it apart and spray painted it school house red.  I love how it turned out.
Taken apart and ready for paint
I was lazy in that I just wiped it down - no sanding involved.  That's my kind of project - fast and simple!  I put tape around the brass piece so it wouldn't get painted.
I like that you can see that wooden pattern
How about you?  Do you enjoy going to thrift stores and/or yard sales?  It's so fun to see something and imagine what you could do with it.

I also bought a hard sided suitcase -- I haven't started that project but I can't wait to get started.

Peace,
Kay
