WOYWW 165 - Canvas Reveal!!

I'm linking up to WOYWW hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground.  Creative people from all over the world link up every Wednesday to show their workdesks and sometimes what projects they are working on.   Make yourself comfortable, get a cup of coffee (or tea) and sit a while.  It's so much fun to see what everyone is working on.

This is my first "baby announcement."  I had fun drawing the giraffes but I couldn't draw them small enough to get their whole body on the canvas.  I think it's pretty darn cute - what do you think?
Hello Mr. Giraffe
And a sad note.  My little conure, Tulip, passed away on Monday.  It was totally unexpected.  She was just a baby - less than a year old.  I miss her whistling for me in the morning and calling me sweetheart.  She had even started laughing like me.  Now it's just me and Katie dog.

It seems as though I've had one struggle after another - losing Daisy in March, health issues and now losing Tulip.  Sometimes life is just so dang rough.

As always I'll visit those that leave a comment and those that end in the same number as me.  I also visit others as I can.

Pancakes on the Plaza

Every Independence Day the Rotary Club in Santa Fe hosts "Pancakes on the Plaza."  It's a great day to enjoy spending time with friends, eat pancakes and check out all the old vehicles in the car show.   I just love old cars.  Here's some photos from the day.

Siscily's Garden

When I was in northern New Mexico Alyce and I stopped by Siscily's house.
Unfortunately she wasn't home.
I've met her a few times.   She's a soul full of love and creativity.
A true free spirit.
I was totally blown away by her home.
Love her collection of crosses
Hello beautiful blooms

Oh-Be Joyful Garden

Love this - see the fishing lures hanging from the sign?
Hello Daisy

She has a stream running right outside her front door.
This is definitely a little piece of heaven.

WOYWW - I Missed You All Last Week

Just like the title says - Happy WOYWW and I really missed everyone last week.
If you don't know what WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) is about you're in for some fun.   It all starts at Julia's blog over at Stamping Ground.   You'll get to visit creative desks all over the world!!

I made a canvas for a friend of mine.  I can't show the finished project yet because it hasn't been given -- but just as soon as it's given I'll post about it.  It's a mixed media piece unlike my She Art girls.  I really enjoyed making it and can't wait to give it!

So, my desk is loaded up with paints, brushes, papers, markers and the little bits and pieces that I used.
Do you see that tin of ribbon?

This is at a yard in Chama - a friend of Alyce's named Siscily.
Look for a post on her garden soon!
And yes, she made the sign!!!

As always, I'll visit people that end in the same number as me.  I will also visit those of you that leave a comment (and your number please).  After that I roam through as many other posts as possible.  But be warned - it may not be until the weekend....

Peace,
Kay

Project Pinterest - Cloth Covered Hangers

Have you discovered Pinterest yet?  I am over the top in love with this!  I think I'm reaching about 5,300 pins (could that REALLY be true?)!  I have boards that range from Household Tips, Beefcake Love (and I'm not talking hamburgers.....), Mixed Media, Knitting and Crocheting, just to name a few.  Oh, and we can't forget about the Animals!  If you are interested in following me on Pinterest just click on the button on the right sidebar.  Be warned - it is addicting!

My blog buddy, Sandy, from North Carolina hosts Project Pinterest.  Her blog is In The Hills of North Carolina.  It's always fun to see what others have created  - maybe putting their own spin on something they've seen.

Today I'm posting about some kid's clothes hangers that I wrapped in monkey fabric for a friend on mine's son.
Pinterest motivation for this project
Drumroll - here's my take on the hangers using the monkey fabric.

Here are the guidelines for Project Pinterest:
1. Decide which pin on Pinterest you’d like to recreate.
2. Create it!
3. Flop or success, create a blog post about your re-do and include the original pin’s url.
4. Add the Project Pinterest button to your post so others can join in too!
* From now on to be considered a "Featured Pinner" you need to add the Project Pinterest button to your blog please.
5. Link up and check out other bloggers’ posts!

Peace,
Kay

People Like Us - movie review

A few weekends ago I went to see "People Like Us."   Overall it's a good movie.  I must admit, I was still thinking about Abraham Lincoln killing vampires.....

People Like Us is a feel good movie.  It's a drama/comedy about family, inspired by true events.  Sam (Chris Pine)  learns that his father has suddenly died.   Against his wishes, Sam is called home, where he must put his father's estate in order and reconnect with his estranged family.   It was an interesting movie with some surprises along the way.   Also in the movie are Elizabeth Banks and Michelle Pfeiffer.    I really enjoyed the kid that played the kid (I think his name is Michael Hall D-Addari).

I'm still waiting for "Magic Mike" to come to my local theater.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 161 - Oh My - Look What I've Gone and Done!!

Happy Wednesday!   This is WOYWW day.  It all starts at Julia's blog over at Stamping Ground.   Take a look at all the creative desks from all over the Globe!  Some are neat, some not so neat  -- each and every one full of inspiration!

A confession.  I get distracted easily.  In order to get to some of my stamping supplies I had to first remove a pile of stuff out of my craft closet.  Oh my - look at this -- oh wow, I forgot I have this... I wonder what I was going to do with that..... you get the idea?     It has been a while since I've made any cards.  Yes, I got out of practice - need to find the groove again.

I'm not going to even try to list everything on my desk (round kitchen table).  Just take a look at all this stuff!  Yikes.

Based on my inspiration (see last post) I made an ATC (the first project) and one card.  I've started on another card and so far I like how it's looking.   The ATC is made on a piece of burlap.  I stamped the Eiffel Tower using a brown ink and bronze embossing powder.  Then I stamped the flowery stamp using pink ink and sprinkled glitter on it.   The pink dots on the left are glitter glue.  Added a bit of the green lace at the bottom and I'm done!
See the bling?
Next the card.  I used an off white card as the base then added some green mesh for a little dimension.  I stamped the Eiffel Tower on an old french book page using the pink ink.  The squarish things spell merci.  Added the light pink studs in the four corners and that's that.
Oops - the Eiffel Tower is not quite centered on the mesh
This is the second card that I've started.  I used the same off-white card and them added some TH distress ink.  I don't know how to use that stuff.... I may add some more color to different parts of the card so it'll have some depth.  Added some green lace and some sequins to the bottom of the card.  So far so good.

A bonus shot of the floor
I had my eyes dilated today so the photos may be blurry - does that make sense?

As always, I'll visit those that end in the same number as me and also those that leave comments (please leave your number so I'll be able to find you).  After that then I visit as many others as I have time.

Peace,
Kay
