Here's some photos I've taken of Northern New Mexico. I can't believe I call this place home. The first photo is of Black Mesa. It is a large volcanic outcroping located on the San Ildefonso Pueblo. San Ildefonso Pueblo is located at the foot of the Pajarito Plateau (where I live) just 8 miles east from Los Alamos and 24 miles from Santa Fe. The Rio Grande runs through San Ildefonso Pueblo. Beautiful, isn't it!
Next is a photo I took of the El Santuario de Chimayo.
For generations Native American Indians, the
Hispanics of the Southwest, and other people of faith have traveled to
the site of El Santuario de Chimayo to ask for healing for themselves or
for others, and to offer prayers of petition or prayers of thanksgiving
for favors received. In 1945, U. S. servicemen who had survived the
"Bataan Death March" began a tradition of walking to El Santuario to
thank Santo Niño de Atocha for delivering them from evil. The tradition
of pilgrimages has grown stronger over the years and now many thousands
of people begin or end pilgrimages at El Santuario.
El Santuario de Chimayo is also the site of "el pocito" the small pit of
Holy Dirt which many people attribute as possessing remarkable curative
powers.
The is the metal cross atop the Shrine of Santa Niño de Atocha.
I've been snapping some more photos of the area and will be posting Part 2 in a few weeks. As for me, I'll be out of touch for about a week and a half. I'll have lots to share then!
Thanks for looking in!

WOW, what a beautiful place to live! What a great idea to show where you live in your blog post. You gave me a good idea :) I'll try to post where I live :) SO COOL :) Thank you!
Thanks Ryan!! I've just started blogging and thought it would be fun to post photos of the area. I'll be checking your blog to see where you live!
Thank you for stopping by! I'm new at this so am amazed every time someone finds me!!!!
you really do live in a beautiful spot. cool to think of people traveling from all over to receive healing there. and it's right out your backdoor;)
Absolutely gorgeous. I love the blue sky and the messages of significance deep in the desert. The starkness makes everything stand out with beauty.
Keep the pictures coming...I love them all!
Hiya! I found you when you commented about Wipso's daughter on my blog today. Thank you, all prayers and thoughts are needed.
But, I was then astounded when I hopped over here to say thank you and saw where you live. My OH went to a conference in NM ( Government) and I'm almost sure it was at Los Alamos, and he then had an extra week looking around afterwards. He loved NM and, after a lot of years I actually have the details here ready to organise a trip. Don't run away, we won't look you up honey!!
But, can I please ask what the weather is like during October/November time? We plan to just have about 8 days based in Santa Fe and going from there for drives/trips. Len has raved about so many places - the list is quite long :)) My email addy is di_wray@hotmail.com. Please don't feel you have to reply though.
Your followers aren't showing up - don't worry though, I think Blogger is very erratic about that one and it tends to correct itself, but it means that right now I can't add myself as a follower :(

Just to say thanks for all your good wishes for Annie & co. It has lifted their spirits no end knowing so many lovely folk are thinking of them. Here's hoping next week looks much much better than last! x Jo
