WOYWW 240 - Some New Goodies

Hello fellow WOYWWers!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  I enjoyed having time off from the daily grind.

Every Wednesday there is a very special blogging event called WOYWW, which was started by Julia at Stamping Ground.  For full details click HERE.
To the left is a container of jewelry making supplies.  Towards the back are some empty containers and an easel set that I got on sale at Michaels.  On the black pad is the layout of earrings I'm going to make.  Behind them is a set of india inks and fountain pen.  There's my new wireless mouse that I haven't used yet, a candle, usb drive, fat phoebe, and some other miscellaneous junk.

Here's a closeup of the earrings I'm going to make.  The bottle caps are from a beer brewed in Alaska.  I've asked a friend to save her caps for me and she mentioned these are her favorite.  I thought I'd make the earrings for her as a surprise.

This is a close up of the india ink set.  The packaging alone is beautiful! I had to buy a fountain pen too. I've never used anything like this before.

As always, I will visit those of you that visit me (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number.   I probably won't be able to visit until the weekend, but will get around, promise!

Peace,
Kay

You are so going to love the India inks. I used a fountain pen when I was a teenager. I loved to write with it.
Somehow, on my journey through life, my fountain pen got mislaid...you may inspire me to get another!

ah so much fun going on here!! mm have a fountain en a watermark one (US brand belonged to my grandfather but the bladder keeps perishing and hard to trace...

India ink will clog any fountain pen as it is a permanent ink and should only be used with dip pens... but perhaps you knew that:D and mm, maybe dont ask how I know this :D

have fun! Shaz in Oz.x

Ps the bottle tops hopefully dont have hard sharp edges as could be scratchy or worse cut? not sure what your bottle tops are like?

I went to a very old fashioned girls school where we HAD to use fountain pens and ink and from there grew a love of writing with one. It's the way that the one glides over the paper that makes using one such a pleasure.....I think my handwriting is better as a result. I really hope that you have a ball using yours.
The bottle top earrings are bound to make your friend smile! They're great fun...good idea!
Hope you are well and happy,
Hugs, LLJ xxxx

OK. So I'll join everyone else in saying that I've not heard of a Fat Phoebe. The Indian inks look so lovely in their packaging. I wonder how you intend to use them. I can remember loving my fountain pen when I was younger, but they were never quite the same when you had to buy cartridges of ink. Have a great week. Kate x #58

Hi there, thanks for visiting my blog - I think it was Anne #41 who asked about Fat Phoebe (although I must say I would have asked the same question!

I see you also had a visit from another Annie - definitely not me but she has put #41 which is my number this week... all very confoooozing as we say around here!
Anyway - LOVE those earrings, what a great idea (and my hubby could keep me in bottle caps forever!)

ps I also meant to say - I can't believe those Windsor & Newton inks still have the same designs as I remember from when I was a kid - seriously, exactly the same ... but then why change them when they still look so good?

As an Alaskan I really had to stop and appreciate those beer caps. Wish I had known you are collecting them - we had all the kids home at Christmas and a fair amount of beverages were consumed. Now of course, we are on the wagon for a while to try to drop the weight!
Let me know if you are interested in more, and I'll start collecting for a few months!
Hope you have a great week ahead...sara j #92

Kay, such an interesting wander around your desk tonight. Those inks look fabulous, and can I say that I remember filling an ink pen and writing school reports with it? (Tells you how old I am! I also remember the blobs it could make on my work and I'd have to restart it!) Can't wait to see what you do with these inks. Loved the idea of your earring bottle caps. You'll love the wireless mouse if you've not used one before. Such freedom from cords! Loved my visit, hope you're all healed up, and thank you for the oh so lovely Christmas card once again. Hope you saw that we shared it with Blogland! Hugs & TFS

Hi Kay,

I love india ink and fountain pens I used to use them all the time but for some reason stopped. I love doing calligraphy too. You have one really great collection of supplies and bargains at Michaels too I so want to go shopping in a Michaels store, never seen on let alone been in one. I could have fun in there..... LOL

Thanks for popping in to say hi and leave a comment, sorry I have had a bad week with work and other stuff I just don't seem to have it together this week.

great idea using those beer caps. I made some pendants and earring last year from beer caps and gave them away...everyone loved them. Hope you are feeling better. I haven't been feeling too well myself and I think that anyone with an autoimmune disorder like we have is having problems with theirs right now too! I go for MRI tomorrow looking for clues as to why I am having trouble walking! Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! Have a great week. Vickie #104

Kay, I have some of those inks myself and I have had them years - and I mean years - and guess what? They are still just as good as they were 'back when Adam was a lad'.
Enjoy them and I am sure your friend will love her ear rings.
Hugs and thanks for visiting earlier, Neet xx

Hi Kay, I haven't paid for any classes on Documented Life. I think the class is all about how they are adapting their Moleskine journals. The actual weekly challenge theme is just posted on the site. I'm just winging it & doing my own thing, lol. Hugs, Shaz xx

Hi Kay, you are full of surprises and I'm looking forward to seeing how you use your Indian Ink. Be careful it is very permanent. I love writing with a fountain pen.
I am probably among the last children that used fountain pens in school. That was sixth grade and I don't remember ever using them again. Ball points got popular and that was the end of fountain pens and ink wells.
There is a loveliness in script that you can only achieve with a fountain pen. You are going to love it :)
Last night Steve and I drove 70 miles to a retirement party and while in that town I went to my first Hobby Lobby . . .Wow . . . I was thinking of you as I walked the isles. You are the first blogging sister that I even heard mention this fabulous store. Of course Steve was bored to dead. I'll grab a friend when spring come around and go back for a day of it. The store was so big that in my half hour I only saw maybe a tenth of it.
Keep Smiling.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
