Tierra Wools Festival

In northern New Mexico is a village call Los Ojos.   There's a weaving shop there called Tierra Wools.  It's been there for decades and continues the local tradition of shearing the sheep, natural yarn dying and weaving.   Their website is currently under construction - HERE.  Saturday was their Annual Festival.  I met some of my friends who have a little casita in the village for a day full of fun.
Me and Alyce
Here's some photos from the day.
Talk about old school - no electric shears used here!

The young woman singing grew up among the looms at Tierra Wools.  She now lives in San Francisco and came home for the celebration.  She has a beautiful voice.
I bought some natural dyed yarn.  She's putting it on a spool for me.
One of the many weavings for sale.
Thanks Alyce and Keith for a great day!
I have some more great photos to share about this day so will be doing some posts in the near future.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 203

It's another WOYWW (What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday).   WOYWW is the baby of Julia at Stamping Ground.  It's an amazing gathering of creative people from all over the world.  Who knows, you may want to join in the fun!

I had a bit of difficulty with my computer over the weekend but I think I finally made it around to everyone.  If I missed you I'm sorry.  Belinda B. -- for some reason I couldn't get onto your blog; it kept bringing up Julia's post for some reason.

Here's whats on my desk --  some of my photos that I've been making into cards.  Unfortunately I couldn't find my thumb drive to find some that I wanted to print.  If that thumb drive doesn't show up I'm going to be in a world of hurt as I've deleted them from my computer.
The markers and stamps haven't moved.  There's a new stack of papers that I love - American Crafts Color Crush.  My list of desks visited last week.  Oh, there's that pair of glasses!

As always, I will do my best to visit those that visit me (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number as me.  Like I said earlier, I had trouble with my computer over the weekend but I think I got around to everyone - if I missed you I'm sorry.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 202 (Countdown to Four Year Anniversary)

Hello to all my blogging buddies! I'd like to welcome my newest follower, Sara J.  I'm thrilled that you are here!  I hope you enjoy your visits!!!

It's another WOYWW (What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday)  - number 202!  The four year anniversary is a few weeks away ( WOYWW 208).  Have you thought about your ATC?  I've actually designed it - but only in my mind!

WOYWW is the baby of Julia at Stamping Ground.  It's an amazing gathering of creative people from all over the world.  They open their homes to do a bit of show and tell - of their desks and/or current projects.  You will be inspired!  It's so much fun!

I finished the knitted lace scarf and the pattern is one post down.  If you make it please share!  It was easy peasy (love that) and looks so nice.

So, here's what you came to see.  I have some stamps out that I'll use for my ATC, watercolor paper, watercolors, markers, brushes and my handy paper cuter (or is it cutter?).
What about you?  What are you working on this week?  Want to share?  Hop on over to Julia's and link up!

As always, I will visit those of you that visit me (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number as me.  A few of you have said that you like the idea and will do the same thing -- it works great for me.  After I've visited those then I try to pop around to other desks as well.  Be warned -- it may not be until Friday that I get around -  don't give up on me!!

Peace,
Kay

Lace Scarf Pattern

Hello peeps.   I really enjoyed making this lace scarf.  It took me longer to knit up than what I'd expected - but am happy with the finished product and will definitely be making more!

I haven't tried knitting lace before and wanted to start out with something simple and this pattern definitely fit the bill!
Image from Pinterest.
The pattern is located HERE at the Ravelry site and is a free pattern.
My finished scarf
It's called One Row Lace Scarf.   The yarn is a fine hand dyed silk blend which recommended using size 6 needles so that's what I used.  It drapes beautifully.  The next scarf I make I will use larger needles so that it will look more like the image from Pinterest.

K= knit
K2tog= knit 2 stitches together
YO= Yarn over
Sts= stitches

Cast on 24 sts (or any number of stitches dividable with 4).
Knit 2 rows
Knit pattern row:
K4, (YO, K2tog, K2) repeat between ( ) 5 times.
Repeat the pattern row until your scarf is at desired length.
Knit 1 row.
Cast off loosely.

Please share if you make a scarf using this pattern.  I'm going to put another one on the needles real soon!

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 201 -- Holy Moly!

I love this day.  It's WOYWW time, hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground.  If you arrived here from her blog, welcome.   If you found your way here some other way please go over to Julia's to be introduced to WOYWW.  People from all over the world link up and show their desks and projects they are working on.  It's fun and addicting.
I finished my scarf.  It's so pretty and perfect for spring, even though we are getting snow today!  I got the pattern from pinterest and will share the pattern and original link with you on another post.

I cleaned up my table and haven't gotten it messy again so there isn't anything to see.
My little backyard at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday
I plan to visit those of you that leave a comment (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number as me.  As always, I appreciate your visits!!

Peace,
Kay

New Mexico Sky - and a Giveaway!

CONGRATS TO ANNIE!  A PACKAGE WILL BE FLYING TO YOU NEXT WEEK!!!

I'd like to welcome my newest followers.  Welcome Steve and Cathryn!  Thank you so much for choosing to follow my little blog!  I hope you enjoy your visits!!

It's a beautiful day.  Thunderstorms were predicted yesterday - they didn't happen.  Driving outside of Santa Fe I saw this.  Believe it or not, all these photos were taken within a 10 minute time frame.  The only adjustment I did to the photos was to crop them.  I don't play around with lighting or color.  Does that mean I'm a purist?

What do you see in the photo below?  The first one to guess will get a prize mailed to them!  The giveaway will have something to do with my photographs.  Not necessarily these, but ones I've taken around New Mexico.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 200

Hello everyone.  I missed visiting desks last week.  Having withdrawals, I decided that I'd join in this week -  it may not be until the weekend before I manage to get around to visit.

The withdrawals are because of Julia.  The brains behind WOYWW (What's On Your Wordesk Wednesday).  Join in the fun over at Stamping Ground.  People from around the globe link up and show their desks and projects they are working on.  It's quite fun and always interesting, not to mention educational!

My desk at the moment is a bit messy - organization takes time if it's done right.  I'm really trying to do it right this time.
This is what I've been working on in the evenings.  Once I've finished I'll write a post with the knitting pattern.  It's super easy - my first "lace" pattern.
I've been thinking about my ATC for the WOYWW anniversary swap.  This will be the Four Year Anniversary.  For all the details go HERE

I will visit those that end in the same number as me and also those that visit me and leave a comment (please leave your number).

Whatever you are up to, wherever you are, enjoy today!

Peace,
Kay

Let There Be.....

Yarn!  And lots of it. All my senses come alive; the smell of the yarn, the texture on my fingers.  Yep, I'm in love.....
What about you?  What makes you weak in the knees?

Peace,
Kay
