Hello peeps. I can't believe it's been almost a week since I've been back from my adventure to Alaska. I took a cruise to the Inside Passage. Ports of call were Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, British Columbia. The cruise originated from Seattle, Washington.
The weather was amazing. We experienced record breaking heat in every single port with no rain. Ketchikan usually gets around 183 inches per year. I packed for a cold trip and instead we got an almost tropical one!
We didn't make it down Tracy Arm Fjord because it was too icy. That's a good thing for the Fjord but I was so looking forward to that special day. Instead we took a route where we got to see about five glaciers, all of which were spectacular.
Don't you love the color of the water! Just amazing.
The sun would typically rise around 5:30 a.m. and sunset was around 10:00 p.m. Talk about a long day! The above photo was taken around 6:00 a.m. We had breakfast delivered to our room as we had a balcony and was able to stand out there and take in the sights.
The ship would go in so far and then turn around so we were able to see both sides. Perfect! Some people spotted a bear at the water but I wasn't so lucky.
As you can see, we weren't alone. There were typically three ships in the ports and I was worried about that. It didn't seem to impact our plans and really the towns didn't seem crowded at all.
I love this cruise. This is the second time I've done it and despite some changes in the ports, which I don't like, the wildlife and scenery didn't disappoint. If you've ever thought of doing this you definitely need to put it on your bucket list and make it happen!
I have more to share so keep posted.
Peace,
Kay
Hello peeps. I'm joining in with Annie at A Stitch In Time. I hope everyone
has had a great and creative week. I started knitting a scarf for a high school graduate. She chose a dark gray yarn; I'm hoping to finish it (or at least get most of it done) this weekend.
I recently went on a trip to Alaska. I'll have to write a post and share some of the amazing things I saw. I just returned this past Tuesday. Needless to say my Smiles are related to my trip.
I saw this written on the sidewalk in Seattle, Washington. It was so great to see and really take it in.
I enjoyed two scoops of pistachio sorbet. It was so full of flavor and very light. Yum!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We are supposed to have a heat wave here. That means getting up early to water the backyard and trying to do the vacuuming and laundry before the day heats up.
Happy Friday
Hugs,
Kay
