WOYWW 241 - Knitting

How many different ways can you say "wow, it's Wednesday again, already, so soon?"  But it's true, my friends!  Welcome to WOYWW.  Our sponsor is the lovely Julia from Stamping GroundThis is the greatest blog hop of crafty desks from all over.  It's fun and inspiring.

A few of you asked last week what a fat phoebe is.  It's the power strip.  In other news, I haven't tried my india inks yet.  I also didn't get around to making the earrings - or doing a dry run on other bottle caps.

I did some knitting.  My niece is a junior in high school and she's the pitcher for the girl's softball team.  The school colors are green and gold so when I saw frilly scarf yarn in those colors I couldn't resist.  She's not a girly girl but I'm hoping since it's in the school colors she might enjoy wearing it on game days.
I had no idea how to knit this type of yarn so I did a search on you tube.  I found the following video, which helped quite a bit.
I can't believe how slow this was to knit up.  What I thought would be a fast and easy project wasn't.

Like always, I'll visit those that end in the same number as me and those that leave me a comment (please leave your number).  I think I made it to everyone last week; if I happened to miss you I'm sorry.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 240 - Some New Goodies

Hello fellow WOYWWers!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  I enjoyed having time off from the daily grind.

Every Wednesday there is a very special blogging event called WOYWW, which was started by Julia at Stamping Ground.  For full details click HERE.
To the left is a container of jewelry making supplies.  Towards the back are some empty containers and an easel set that I got on sale at Michaels.  On the black pad is the layout of earrings I'm going to make.  Behind them is a set of india inks and fountain pen.  There's my new wireless mouse that I haven't used yet, a candle, usb drive, fat phoebe, and some other miscellaneous junk.

Here's a closeup of the earrings I'm going to make.  The bottle caps are from a beer brewed in Alaska.  I've asked a friend to save her caps for me and she mentioned these are her favorite.  I thought I'd make the earrings for her as a surprise.

This is a close up of the india ink set.  The packaging alone is beautiful! I had to buy a fountain pen too. I've never used anything like this before.

As always, I will visit those of you that visit me (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number.   I probably won't be able to visit until the weekend, but will get around, promise!

Peace,
Kay

Happy Mail

Hello all.  How was your first week in 2014?  Mine was nice; despite having to return to work.  Oh, but that's what keeps me in supplies!

I received some wonderful handmade cards.

Di from Pixie's Craft Workshop sent me this too cute card.  Isn't she sweet!

Next up is a  lovely card I received from Darnell from djkardkreations.
And finally, I received this amazing card from a friend that I met while participating in an ATC swap.   Her name is Theresa and she's a sweetheart.
Here's some closeups of Theresa's folding card.
And finally, here's the mixed media canvas she sent me.  Isn't it adorable!  A wonderful addition to my Christmas decorations!
It says "Sing your own song."

Thank you all for my goodies.  It was so fun to see an envelope that didn't contain a bill!

Peace,
Kay

2014 Is Here!

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a great holiday and it was all you hoped for.  I had a great break from work but wasn't able to get some things done (crafting being one of them!).  On December 17 I took a bad fall at work; how does someone fall and get scrapes on both their palm, knuckles and pinky finger (all on the same hand)?  Not to mention the bruised ribs and pulled muscles?  It's starting to hurt less when I cough and sneeze so that's a good thing!

All things are possible with the new year.  I'm on the road towards my dreams.  I can visualize what I want to accomplish.  I have started journaling.  I've been intimidated by the idea for a while now.  I knew it was going to be hard - I am constantly editing myself so how was I going to write without  editing along the way?   Believe me, it takes practice.

One of my favorite quotes is from Julia Cameron.
“As you move toward a dream, the dream moves toward you.”

I'm not making "resolutions" as they are typically known.  I am starting the process of hopefully realizing some of my dreams.  What about you?  What's your approach to the new year?

Peace,
Kay
