Friday Smiles - Oh what comes out of the mouth of babes.

Happy Friday to you all!  I'm linking up with Annie from A Stitch In Time.  I've really enjoyed ending the week this way.  Today I'm sharing a true story that involves a friend of mine's daughter.

My friend's daughter (Sherri) is taking classes and teaching second grade, full-time, in Marysville, WA.  She'll graduate from Western Washington University in June.

Sherri forgot about having gum in her mouth, (which is still not allowed in school), and was assisting a little girl with her assignmentThe seven year old said, "Miss Smith, your breath smells minty..." and then the girl squinted her eyes and pursed her lips and in an accusatory expression she added "like gum."

When my friend shared this story I just knew it is perfect for "Friday Smiles."   I just had to laugh when she sent me the email telling me about Sherri's latest teaching "lesson."

I hope there's something in your life that makes you smile, and sometimes, chuckle out loud!!

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 247 - Bird Feeder Progress

Hi all.  It's another Wednesday, time to link up with Julia at Stamping Ground.  If you aren't familiar with WOYWW then visit Julia; there are links to blogs from all over the world.  These kindly artists share what is on their crafty desks and projects in the works.

My desk pretty much looks the same so I thought I'd show you the bird feeder.  We had a calm day over the weekend so I was able to spray paint it.  I covered the flowers and birds so they wouldn't be green.
Before
After
I'm happy with how it's looking so far.  I will add some dimension to the leaves using acrylic paints.  I will also paint the birds and flowers, but first I need to do a bit of sanding.

My neighbors gave me the feeder several years ago for Christmas.  I can't wait to show them the renovation!  I think they will be pleased with how I've brought it back to life.

As usual, I will visit those that visit me (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number.  After that I'll visit others as I can.

Peace,
Kay

Friday Smiles

Hi All.  Today I'm joining in with Annie at A Stitch In Time for Friday Smiles.   My brother sent me a video that one of my cousins put together.  It's of my mom's family - she was the youngest of nine.  There is only one brother left now so when I watched this video it really brought back wonderful family memories.

I took a couple of stills of the video as they really did bring a smile to my face.

This is me with my Grandpa Wilson (my mom's dad).  You can see how old he was when I was just a baby in his arms.  He was an oil man that moved from Oklahoma to California.  Part of a pinky finger was gone and I remember being fascinated.  He pretend to put the tip back on and I would think it was magical.

When I was a bit older he always had M&Ms in his top dresser drawer for me.  I'd sit on his lap and we'd share the bag.  What a special treat for me and now a special memory.  Unfortunately he passed away when I was around four - five.
And this is may be my first nude.  I didn't get any offers from any magazines, but that's okay.

What brought a smile to your face today?

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 246 - Acrylic Paints

Hi all.  I have no doubt that I'll be in the triple digits this week, linking up at Julia's over at Stamping Ground.  If you aren't familiar with WOYWW then visit Julia; there are links to blogs from all over the world.  These kindly artists share what is on their crafty desks.

I'm a bit late this week as I had some drama yesterday.  No need to share here but it put me in slow motion, to say the least.

I've gotten out some of my acrylic paints and started playing with them.  I have an outdoor metal bird feeder that has gotten faded and am touching up using my paints.  I will do a big reveal once I'm done.
Someone was using their Cuttlebug last week so I thought I'd get out my embossing folders to take a look.  I really like the selection that I have.  I may have a run at trying some different stamping techniques with them.

Also on the desk - mini canvases that I painted while I had my acrylic paints out; some torn ribbon, paper towels and a water spritzer.  I use my old yogurt cups for a variety of things.

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and those that visit me (please leave your number).  This week is going to be a crazy one for me so it may not be until the weekend that I'm able to get around to most of you.  I'll sneak in visits when I can.

Peace,
Kay
