A few of you asked last week what a fat phoebe is. It's the power strip. In other news, I haven't tried my india inks yet. I also didn't get around to making the earrings - or doing a dry run on other bottle caps.
I did some knitting. My niece is a junior in high school and she's the pitcher for the girl's softball team. The school colors are green and gold so when I saw frilly scarf yarn in those colors I couldn't resist. She's not a girly girl but I'm hoping since it's in the school colors she might enjoy wearing it on game days.

ReplyDeleteOh wow, Kay, I've seen that yarn before and it was EXPENSIVE in the store I saw it in. I think my internet friend Halle has made several scarves with this same type of yarn. It turns out beautiful, too. Glad you found how to use it, even if it was a bit tedious and time consuming.

As you say it's in her school colours so she will probably wear it! I think it's a great scarf... I thought that style was a quick knit !!!!! It's like looking at cards that look easy then seeing the steps involved to make them!!!

Hi kay that is a great yarn we sold it at the store I work in and had to explain the method to a LOT of customer but often ended up saying ... Look on you tube it is the font of all knowledge.

ReplyDeleteI, like you, thought that knitting one of those fun scarves was a doddle - that's what they all say in the knitting shops - but it looks really time consuming and finicky. Maybe I won't be doing them for the grandchildren, then. I like to watch a DVD whilst knitting, but it would be impossible....

Amazing! I always wished I had learned to knit. Crochet is my vice. Knitting always felt backwards to me. This is a lovely scarf and I'm sure your niece will love it!

Those ruffle scarves drive me nuts! I've made loads of them, I find them quite quick but incredibly frustrating to do!! I'm sure your niece will love it though, being team colours and all. Hope you get to do some of the other things you want to do this week!

Hello again, Kay. Thanks for visiting - I know just what you mean - I can't bear to get rid of those embroidery threads, either - some of them are over 40 years old - but, kept in a cupboard when not in use, they keep their colour.....so.....why should we get rid of them? we can guarantee we will need them the following week if we did!

I would have expected that yarn to be very quick to knit up. Strange isn't. I had never heard of a fate phoebe either. As far as I am concerned they are just four ways or six ways etc. Thank you for your visit today. I really enjoyed playing with that envelope. xx Maggie #2
