WOYWW 241 - Knitting

How many different ways can you say "wow, it's Wednesday again, already, so soon?"  But it's true, my friends!  Welcome to WOYWW.  Our sponsor is the lovely Julia from Stamping GroundThis is the greatest blog hop of crafty desks from all over.  It's fun and inspiring.

A few of you asked last week what a fat phoebe is.  It's the power strip.  In other news, I haven't tried my india inks yet.  I also didn't get around to making the earrings - or doing a dry run on other bottle caps.

I did some knitting.  My niece is a junior in high school and she's the pitcher for the girl's softball team.  The school colors are green and gold so when I saw frilly scarf yarn in those colors I couldn't resist.  She's not a girly girl but I'm hoping since it's in the school colors she might enjoy wearing it on game days.
I had no idea how to knit this type of yarn so I did a search on you tube.  I found the following video, which helped quite a bit.
I can't believe how slow this was to knit up.  What I thought would be a fast and easy project wasn't.

Like always, I'll visit those that end in the same number as me and those that leave me a comment (please leave your number).  I think I made it to everyone last week; if I happened to miss you I'm sorry.

Peace,
Kay

  6. Oh wow, Kay, I've seen that yarn before and it was EXPENSIVE in the store I saw it in. I think my internet friend Halle has made several scarves with this same type of yarn. It turns out beautiful, too. Glad you found how to use it, even if it was a bit tedious and time consuming.

    Have a great WOYWW from # 16.

  17. Hello Kay. I'm with BJ - didn't know what a fat phoebe was - and don't know what a power strip is? Am I missing something essential to life here??
I, like you, thought that knitting one of those fun scarves was a doddle - that's what they all say in the knitting shops - but it looks really time consuming and finicky. Maybe I won't be doing them for the grandchildren, then. I like to watch a DVD whilst knitting, but it would be impossible....
    Have a great week.

  18. Hi Kay. I've not been able to link up for a couple of weeks so it's been really such fun to catch up with everyone. I love the scarf and the colours look really good with that design. And - like BJ - I don't know what a power strip is either??? Have a lovely creative day. Julie Ann xx #54

  20. We've got that yarn type in the UK too and I just know that it would drive me to distraction...so I admire your patience. But the result was worth it, it's fab! Your niece will love it :-)

  21. Amazing! I always wished I had learned to knit. Crochet is my vice. Knitting always felt backwards to me. This is a lovely scarf and I'm sure your niece will love it!

  24. Those ruffle scarves drive me nuts! I've made loads of them, I find them quite quick but incredibly frustrating to do!! I'm sure your niece will love it though, being team colours and all. Hope you get to do some of the other things you want to do this week!

  25. I agree, that wool is not easy to knit with. I have made a few scarves and I hated doing them.

  28. Snap, Kay. I am knitting those scarves too. Got a great deal on the wool so thought I'd make them up for pressies. I agree, it's much trickier than I thought too but once you get going they grow quickly don't they.

  33. Hello again, Kay. Thanks for visiting - I know just what you mean - I can't bear to get rid of those embroidery threads, either - some of them are over 40 years old - but, kept in a cupboard when not in use, they keep their colour.....so.....why should we get rid of them? we can guarantee we will need them the following week if we did!
    Have a great time.

  43. Well done with knitting the school colors scarf, Kay! I'm sure she will love it!! I give you huge kudos for learning how to do it by watching a YouTube video. I guess we can learn anything that way nowadays, huh? Amazing! I hope you are well and you have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Darnell (no number, I didn't play this week)

  44. You did a fab job on this pretty & colorful scarf. I didn't know the term fat phoebe either! I do know what a power strip is though. Got 'em all over the house! I'm sure your scarf will see lots of wear since it's in the school colors, and also was made with a lot of love. She's very lucky to have a talented relative make her such a beautiful scarf! 47. I would have expected that yarn to be very quick to knit up. Strange isn't. I had never heard of a fate phoebe either. As far as I am concerned they are just four ways or six ways etc. Thank you for your visit today. I really enjoyed playing with that envelope. xx Maggie #2

  48. Phew...it's been ages since I visited Kay. My apologies but like you said 'wow where does the time go'?
Are you up for knitting the whole team gorgeous scarves because I think there may be a rush on them once they see it! ;D
Loved your doors and windows post too and your Christmas cards looked great.
I hope I'm not so long in coming back to visit. I also hope to join in with WOYWW soon. I miss the gang :D
    Have a great week!

  49. Hey girl, seems like I haven't seen you in ages, you need to blog more, saw you on pinterest the other day :) Yeah, sad that the sprays aren't permanent and yes I spray them! I also spray things like the last piece just cause I like the shine, lol plus if I get any leakage from another project, it will wipe off. :) Such a love/hate with my journal book! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥
